There are some things I agree with and disagree with in this thread. Subjects I Agree With I do find it unfair that players get slain/banned, while mods only have a 'talk'. I do understand demotion is bad, but not as bad as getting banned. I do find it unfair that some staff allow players to say "nigger" "faggit" etc. I have had issues with thsi before, but that player was never banned. The staff do not deal with harassment. I find that fairly new players are appointed mod. I find this concerning. I think they should at least be on the server at least 3 weeks to a month. Disagreed Topics (My opinon replies) Staff are on enough on the server. Some staff do tab out, but i've never seen them for a long time tab out. Highwon knows everything, just keeps silent about it. Ive never seen Highwon abuse, except on appropriate events. Much more, didnt have time to add
You make some good points, but I will say that it's tough to generalize everyone like that. A few things you are dead on about, though: The staff/former staff "inner circle." I've definitely encountered that. Even witnessed an ex-staff member come in and basically start running the server while a current admin was online. He'd say "yep, slay that guy." And the admin would snap to it. It was remarkable. There's definitely favoritism. Harassment. I witnessed a girl join the server and she was slammed with sexist comments from almost everyone in the server while a now ex-mod (thank God) just sat there and let it all happen. Never muted anyone. Nothing. Just let the poor girl get harassed for no other reason than being a girl. Now this differs between staff, I've seen some great staff that mute/gag people for anything remotely offensive and they should be applauded. But usually there is little to no moderation. Reporting staff on the forums is a joke. It's too much of a hassle to get the staff what is essentially a slap on the wrist. The harshest punishment I've seen a staff receive is a one round slay, but most of the time it's a stern "talking to." One thing I will say is wrong though is the idea that certain people are favored in reports. I'm not friends with any of the staff and I can't think of any time where I've been slayed unfairly. The numbers don't lie. Staff can't just punish you without evidence because they don't like you/like the person that's reporting you.
You're really on a roll today, Lego. Can you please start thinking before you post, please? Thank you. IMPORTANT: We do not disallow opinions on STTT. We disallow targeting and harassment. Learn the difference. On an unrelated note, this is my 1,000th post. Turn up.
I'm on a roll? LOL I'm just telling the truth. Check the topics. You will see it. If you don't then you are blind.
And it's our job to stop it from happening, and to silence it. Now, please. Continue with the main topic.
Mass resignations = drama. Let me see.. Demotions = drama.. Some reports have drama. Do you stop it? No. And yes, let's Continue with the main topic.
I appreciate you taking the time to write all this up and informing us of your concerns. However I feel a lot of the things you touched on might have a personal bias and not the full story. Hopefully we can keep this topic civil and have both players and staff give their side of things so we all better understand each other. And staff will take note of your concerns and improve on things that they are able to improve.
As someone who came into the community with the intentions of not making bond, causing trouble, and leaving after a few weeks, here's my thoughts on the points brought up in the opening post. 1) The title is pretty arrogant and doesn't tell you much of what the thread is about. ". @@RhazhMatazh told me to join because I could get a mod spot if I applied." Going into a community for the power of moderator is a pretty stupid reason to play. You should play to have fun. "I didn't think too much of it, but that was my first real bad experience with the staff." It's not really a bad experience with the staff, you even admit you were at fault. " I have seen players from each of these groups break the rules of the servers with no punishment levied against them at all." Then file reports. It's not hard. "The staff doesn't take care of the servers well. Too many players are allowed or even encouraged to RDM with staff online and never be punished." How do they encourage RDM? Even people who accidentally damage someone during a round for one reason or another are usually slain for the next. "When servers are understaffed, some moderators will refuse to join other servers without moderators, even when mass RDM is rampant." Being a moderator is a stressful job where the only pay off is having whiny ass children complain about you. Moderating a populated server by yourself is extremely distressing and I often wouldn't join my old server that I moderated if I knew I couldn't get someone else to join, and that was only 24 players max. You also seem to be under the impression that this is a full time job they are paid for. It's not. It's controlled voluntary work without compensation. Even if a mod is only on one day a week, if that's all they're able to do then it's way better than a server without moderators. --- As for the players part, I agree that the slurs that used on the server are often let go or dealt with way after a ton of damage has been done. I also wish the mods were held to higher standards when it came to this themselves.
I'm sorry certain actions have led you to believe these things. I really enjoyed my time playing with you and I hope you did the same with me. Good luck in life and with other servers. If you ever feel like coming back, I won't hold anything against you! And I agree with @MangoTango. This server has changed. Wether for the better or worse I do not know. It's not the same it used to be.
@Kenny is 14. I'm 18. @Disruptionz is 19. @Raven is 13. Where's age becoming a factor in any of this?
Some are 20+ years old and act like an 11 year old. Some are 11 years old and act like a 25 year old. Maturity is the key factor, myself and other relatively young staff members are examples of that.
