I don't have a preference, but can see that both Vanilla and Modded TTT have their strengths and weaknesses: Vanilla TTT gets you in the game faster and simplifies the game environment and choice of weapons, but not a lot of people will be happy staring at minecraft textures and will miss the elements found exclusively in Modded TTT. Modded TTT gives a vastly varied game environment, expanded choice of weapons and injects more active strategy into the game. However, some people with low end PCs might not be able (or willing) to wait for all the content to download, even if passively. That and some people actually enjoy the simplicity of Vanilla TTT.
