Not sure what you're referring to regarding McConnell, but the subpoenas that are constantly issued to people that were closely involved in Trump's inner circle is essentially just asking them to testify in front of select congresspeople about whatever issues they need answered. Thing is Trump keeps blocking them from testifying because he can kinda. He's strong arming the democrats to use police force and arrest those who were subpeona'd and make them look bad which they have just shied away from.
Imagine saying you’re a proud American but at the same time being happy a hostile enemy of ours interfered into our democracy. Somewhere someplace real republicans rolled in their graves.
Same here, I don't necessarily care about the presidential candidates. I just don't like political debates.
Seriously though, I cant stand any of the options are giving. Is there anyone else running besides the dems and trump? Like wheres the independent or whatever that's very quiet. Like it's my duty to vote, but I just dont see me bringing myself to vote for anyone that is running right now.
Honestly I don’t know. It’s kinda funny that my Hispanic parents actually really like him. Dad use to dislike him quite a lot and ended up liking him more and more and my mom straight up switched political parties (to republican). There’s ideas that I like on both sides. Things both the president has said and things I’ve heard from the opposite side. That’s besides the point though I’d still like to educate myself before the election. Yeah that’s true. I’ve noticed that as well. Independents just kinda seem like they’re there. No matter if you label yourself as a Democrat or Republican you’re still wrong. The fact that the political climate is how it is right now doesn’t help either. I don’t really ever see civil mediums for discussion and all that. Places like Reddit are a complete joke for that especially r/politics. I’ve always noticed it’s heavily left sided and most right sided stuff is shot down. who knows tho
In terms of presidential election, independents have usually failed to pull in numbers large enough to help them win the elections (popular vote- and electoral college-wise). There are few noticeable independents such as Theodore Roosevelt and iirc, Ross Perot who have manage to pull some voters away from the main party, but they were nowhere large enough to make a major impact to win the election. Thus, it boils down to Republicans vs. Democrats because they are the main party and can pull in large numbers from the population/electoral college to vote for them. This is more due to how the political system is designed to encourage especially in the modern times. Sometimes, people vote for who is the lesser evil of the two. Sometimes, people don't vote because the main parties don't appeal to them. Etc. Thus, independents rarely have the voice to make waves within the elections. Just something to note if you want to study or observe the elections in the United States.
Yeah, you're right, I just remember always seeing that one independent out there getting like 2% or less, I'd rather sink my vote into that than Republicans or dems atm.
People wasting their votes is what is so vexing and annoying, tho I’d rather you not vote than vote for the memes and choose harambe and deez nuts.
Charming, with that attitude its no wonder you got banned for five days. He shouldn't be in any government position to begin with. I'm going to assume you're being sarcastic again but in all seriousness Russia obviously compromised our elections for their own agenda. They can't be trusted as long as people like Vladimir Putin are in power. Though, considering how he's been coughing a lot during some of his speeches and presentations, I think his disgusting habit of being a chain-smoker is about to bite him in the ass.
