That's exactly it. We have protocol for Blatant False RDM Reporting but not for Lying after being reported.
If it's discovered that a player had lied on a report for RDM, then they will be punished for the RDM. It's as simple as that. Staff will most likely note their lying in their stats, but they will be punished for the RDM. Keep in mind that whether someone is lying or not brings a subjective aspect of staffing to the table. Some players may think that something happened when it didn't, but that doesn't mean they lied. That's why it's easiest to slay someone for having the incorrect response to the RDM report.
I somewhat disagree. Even if someone says "they passed an un-ID'd body" and they really, truly believe that they did, when in reality the person in question didn't, that's too bad. If there was even a remote possibility that they might not have passed the body they should mention that in the report. If they don't mention that and it turns out that that person did not, in fact, pass the un-ID'd body, they lied. It's as simple as that. Also, it would be nice to have 100% agreement on what the punishment actually is for lying in a report since there seems to be some disagreement. I imagine that if every time someone was reported they lied in the report to avoid a slay, they'd receive a harsher punishment than a slay.
I find it funny that you're disagreeing with a person that wrote the guide to moderating the servers lol. I know it may have changed a little bit from when I was an admin, but what I told you was the complete truth. If someone lies on an RDM report and it turns out that they did RDM, it shouldn't be anything different than someone who blatantly RDM'd. RDM is RDM and the punishment should not change based on a players response.
Then you and I just flat out disagree. I think most staff agree that loopholing your way out of a slay is a big problem on these servers, even to the point where I've seen staff ask to have the "passing an un-ID'd" rule removed altogether to prevent people from using that excuse in reports. In my opinion, if you're caught lying in a report the punishment should be more severe. How severe? I'm not a moderator so I don't know, but definitely more severe than a one round slay.
Moderators are to follow specific protocol that is easy to recollect and do again. If someone RDMs they will be punished with a slay and nothing more. If the player is found to be continuously lying and abusing our rules, an admin will be notified and an executive decision for what the punishment should be will be made. For an example, a few days ago a player with an extensive history of prop-killing and lying was globally banned for 2 weeks under administrative discretion. Players like that don't go very far.
