This was something that came up recently but Trump has been pardoning and/or granting clemency to a number of individuals as of late including the ex-governor of Illinois who tried to sell then President Obama's senate seat.

I'm curious as to why Trump would do this especially since it's earned the ire of his own party with the GOP leader in the Illinois statehouse being the most vocal about it as of late.

Though a part of me thinks that Trump might be doing so to spite Obama in some way especially considering how he spurned a number of conspiracy theories about the former president's citizenship in the past. But what do you guys think?
