I skimmed the thread so sorry if I'm getting stuff wrong but here's what I think.

The first thing you bring up is that the old system put too much work on the leads shoulders. idk if perma is the right length, but 4 weeks is definitely not long enough. Personally I like three months global, six months global, and then perma, or just six months then perma. That means the leads wouldn't be the only ones able to handle hacking bans, but it's also a more strict punishment.

Next you bring up that new moderators can't be trusted with discretion to gban. It's as simple as give them permission to do it, but make it clear in staff protocols that they are only to use it for hacking bans, or if they have permission from an admin+. Honestly I totally disagree with the idea that someone who isn't hacking would be frustrated because they got globally banned by an inexperienced mod. They'd be frustrated that they were banned at all, and while it means that they won't be able to play while they wait for the appeal, you're preventing the much more common issue of "hacker rdms the whole server, gets banned, then hacks on another server immediately after." And honestly paci, you and I both know that the admins don't look at each video before globalizing the ban. The leads looked over videos before issuing permas, but a simple globalization was almost never rechecked by an admin.

I'd say about 80% of hacking bans are against people who blatantly hack and mass rdm. These are almost always the ones who immediately go to another server to hack after. So while everything deserves being handled on a case by case basis, that logic should be taken to appeals. Have protocol that attacks the most common issue, and let the anomalies be taken up in appeals.

There will always be what ifs, and I really don't think this one is such a big deal compared to what you gain from it. First off, the ban message provides a link to where they can appeal. Second, if they are actually hacking, who cares? and if they aren't hacking and don't know how to appeal, that's on them for not reading.
And as for mods falsely banning and then not handling the appeal for days, the same could be said about literally any ban. That isn't an issue of the ban itself, that's an issue with the mod.

 

If there is this much community support over globalizing hacking bans then I will talk to Teroxa and the staff team about possibly finding a solution that works out for everyone. What I want to say though is that I cannot guarantee that this will be implemented at all, as this sort of thing was tried in the past and was ultimately reversed by a higher power.

In my opinion it gives them the best chance, to actually take the second chance that SGM is offering them.

Just make 1st hacking ban a 4 week global offense and 2nd offense perma global like it was before, no reason why we should allow hackers back into the community when all they’re trying to do is ruin the game for all of us veteran players.

 

I don't agree with this, You should just perma ban them and if they do grow up and realize that they fucked up they should just go on the forum and ask to be unbanned like Anna and others.

 

I agree with Banana after the second time someone is banned they should be perm if in the future they release that they did and impact it has the community then they can make a post apologize for what they did and be given a second chance with a warning that if they did it again they would never be allowed back on

No reason it shouldn't be.

There should only be two bans. First should be global, it gives em a chance to come back and show us they aren't gonna do it again. If they fuck that chance up.. Ban them permanently. They were already given a chance NOT to do it again so I mean.. Why give them another chance.

 

You can apply this logic to basically any punishment
