I would not mind a rollback. For me, STTT has always been a blast thanks to the people. Worst case, rollback doesn't fix the crashes. But roughly the same number of people would still play regardless, so it would not be a bad idea to do it. If it works, yay. If it doesn't, oh well.
I just want Serious TTT to stay alive for as long as possible...I'm happy with whatever it takes to keep it going. These are the only TTT servers I ever play on so I am praying that there is a miracle for this
I agree with others; I would vastly prefer a revert rather than a shutdown. There are things about SGM that I just can't really satisfy on any other TTT server, so I would prefer to see it stick around even with less content. I haven't really noticed the population 'dwindling', either, like others have said; it seems like people are on often, just... not mods. The server is almost full every day. That does not count as dwindling, although I'd say the number of servers is excessive if they don't crash every so often, because usually only one server out of the lot is full. If the crashes manage to go away, I'd say only one American and EU server per game type (vanilla/modded) is necessary.
I think a lot of people aren't realizing that perhaps a big reason the servers are being shut down is in part because Highwon just wants to move on. Finding a new owner would be pretty tedious and annoying I am sure, and he's been maintaining this server for years. So now the population is decreasing, I am sure donations are decreasing as well, and I am sure he simply doesn't have the passion anymore, nor does the community have an immediately clear future anymore; even if he reverts the servers and crashes stop, there's no guarentee the damage hasn't already been done. Although I'm not sure how likely, I feel even if he did all of these things, the community would continue to dwindle and eventually die. At least this way, it goes out with some dignity and closure, instead of fighting tooth and nail just to be a shadow of its former self. Its a sad reality, but nothing gold can stay. (Edit: While its nice to see how many people desperately want this place to stay alive, I would actually be surprised if this community even survives until the official shutdown date. I'm willing to bet it closes before the originally set date unfortunately.)
Did you read the first post? Highwon asked Dani to make a vote to see what the community thinks, I made a thread for opinions. as a reason behind a yes or no is better than just a simple vote. transferring the server to a new owner costs money and paperwork. Population has been declining due to numerous things for a while now, mainly the crashes (The shutdown announcement barely dented the pop that we have, just some of the regulars that jumped ship). It has never been a money problem, and Highwon has stated numerous times he doesn't have much time hence why there won't be any updates (except probably to fix any bugs that arise). Reality is, no ones really fighting tooth and nail, it's not an uphill battle as Highwon will choose the outcome, it's more of a simple discussion amongst everyone about what they think should be done, and instead of assuming what people want, we're talking about it. I'm not sure how much you really hang around here (by your post, you don't really know much of what goes on around here anymore) you can see that there's a pretty stable core of people here that will be here till the end. (and if the servers become stable and crashes don't push new people away, more people will come, so no ones really worried about that) And to be completely honest, it's been in a shadow of its former self since the Christmas updates that started the crashes. No one can see into the future, so whatever happens, happens. I know this is a thread about opinions, but you seemed to throw out misinformation and odd hate towards those who don't want this place to shutdown, so I felt the need to reply to a few things you said as they've been covered in other threads or just general knowledge for people here.
I didn't throw out any misinformation. Everything I said was pure speculation. I merely suggested perhaps he doesn't wanna do it anymore. Also, when I mentioned playerbase and donations, I was basically just saying that perhaps the incentive to work hard on the servers isn't what it used to be. May not be worth the time any more. And you are right, I come on here a couple of times a week and browse. But yea, I apologize if it sounded like I was making claims. I definitely wasn't, as I said, pure speculation. Also, it seems you think I want this place to close, I definitely don't. I just don't see how it continues in its current state is all. It seems a lot of the dedicated playerbase has moved on, and it just seems from an outsider's perspective to be very difficult to come back from. But the memories I have here will stay with me, and I'd like it to turn out well. I just can't see how that happens.
