i really hope this and everything you say in this thread is satire, because "pro-illegal immigration" and "pro-abortion" is the stupidest shit i've seen all week and it only goes downhill from there.
just clarifying here you're saying pro-abortion is a stupid term because it's actually supposed to be pro-choice, right? Or are you against pro-choice, I haven't really been following this thread here.
Biden is that person. I think you misunderstood. I don't agree with Biden on everything, but most of what I disagree with is methods. I genuinely like a lot of his platforms, and I think that him wanting to expand the ACA is a great thing. I would vote for him solely if it meant getting us closer to universal coverage. Also, why do you hand wave all the horrible shit Trump has done? You make it seem like it isn't a big deal. In fact, your entire presence on this thread seems to be to attack me and the democratic party. Yet, you play the both sides narrative. It is very obvious that you lean to the right. Hongo is the example of what Trump has done to this country. HE has empowered conspiracy theories and bad political tactics, like gas lighting and lying. He has placed businessmen into top government positions. It is so funny that you are crying about corruption when Trump is literally the most corrupt motherfucker on the planet. by the way i'm sorry if I didn't respond to everything. It would take forever, seeing as you typed a godamn novel.
being "pro-abortion" would imply you want every pregnant woman to get an abortion. pro-choice is their right to choose what is best for their situation, which for some reason republican men want to control and limit even though it doesn't affect them at all.
You literally just described why I'm hand waving away everything trump has done: His actions are reversible. Very easily reversible. It isn't a big deal because, on the Macro scale, Trump has done virtually nothing. And no, you didn't reply not because I wrote a novel. You didn't reply cuz I called you out and you didn't have a fucking response. Biden is far more corrupt than Trump, it's just been that Trump is far more brazen about his corruption. He has lobbied to make universal healthcare less attainable. He has made it harder for Americans to get rid of their debt. If there is a policy you actually like about Biden, go fucking check his history in relation to that policy, then come back and tell me if he isn't just lying to you about it now. He has done nothing for the common people, but he has done everything to further entrench capitalist corporations into our daily life, and make give them more and more power over the people he two-facedly says he wants to help. Either all you've been doing is listening to taglines and let yourself fall into blind ignorance, or you've gone and decided that none of his substantial history of fucking over people any lying about it matters because Orange Man Bad. You are ridiculous, and you are wrong. I play the both sides narrative because I'm not pretending like either follow my ideals. I didn't vote for Trump, I didn't vote for Hillary, because neither of them are people I can support. The same holds true between Trump and Biden. You are battling corruption with corruption, and as far as I am concerned, that makes you complacent. Live in your little fantasy world all you want, but you're only delusional if you think that anything good will come with supporting evil people to rule over us.
I have never said Trump was good. I have never said Trump was not part of that corruption. Trump is bad. Biden, is bad. Hillary, is bad. The people that have power over us are corrupt and evil. They do not represent the American people, they represent corporate interests. We do not get laws that help us. We get laws that help Jef Bezos. Did y'all forget Jeffrey Epstein? Either you have to believe he actually killed himself, you have to forget it ever happened, or you have to fucking acknowledge there is a systemic problem within our system, and it's not about racism. Our country has a class divide. The super rich, the politicians, they have all the power. The difference in issues that are addressed from a Republican president to Democratic president are as superficial as they possibly could be. It is literally things that are made or appealed within years, and the lasting consequences just are not there. And yeah: A big part of that is Republican's blocked everything, but maybe, just maybe, if you tried working with them instead of fighting them every step of the way, you'd find a lot of shit gets passed, because ultimately the average Republican family wants identical things to the average Democratic family, it just needs different phrasing. But I guess that would just take too much time and energy.
i didn't say you said trump was "good", where'd you get that? you said trump is not an opponent when him and his cabinet very clearly are. biden is a shitshow. i wouldn't be surprised if he wore adult diapers. the man has dementia and forms sentences worse than trump and sanders was ahead of his time. his ideas aren't radical in a worldwide sense, but for americans, it's inconceivable. free healthcare and higher education? impossible, we need that money for militarization so we can destroy our enemies and implement our own failing system into their countries that eventually lead to civil war and more death than if we had not intervened in the first place.
Ugh, hold my beer. What does this mean? Who are "they"? What does this statement even mean? I feel like you are being overly vague and this is just a useless platitude with no real meaning. Democrats offer the worst of their worst ideals? You'll need to explain this to me. I assume you are trying to say that trump showcases the best of his worst positions and the democrats (all of them, because of course you can't be bothered to be specific) showcase the worst of their worst positions? I am so fucking confused dude. Examples? What things have Republicans fixed in the long term? The middle east? These are political issues. I don't give a fuck how that makes you feel, but they are political. I wish they weren't, I wish we all just agreed on the principles that we should strive for clean energy, gun safety and improved education systems, but when republicans deny climate change, reject any kind of gun control, and actively gut the education system in favor of for profit charter schools? I am sorry, I can't stand idle and let them get away with it. What do you mean by PC ideals? I think I understand the sentiment and I probably agree that some people on the left are big woke scolds who constantly bitch and moan over the littlest of shit, but I haven't seen any major democratic candidates for the president or the congress get really fired up over something minor. Maybe I don't run in those circles, maybe i'm blind to it. I know that the justice democrats often say and do a lot of stupid shit. Are you refering to that? I wish you would stop being so godamn vague. I have no idea what you mean by dumbass games and crazy rabbithole. Also, what corruption? Stop blowing smoke up my ass and show me the fire. Excuse you? First of all, it is called being pragmatic. I chose the person who had the closest values to my own that actually has a chance at winning. That person is Joe Biden. Do I agree with everything the man has done? Probably not. Do I understand everything that guy has done in his political career? Not particularly. Sure, i'm definitely going to become more informed, but you have to understand that Trump is not my guy. Trump's values are so different than mine that if he came down from space i'd think he was an alien. I would never vote for him. Never. He has done so much shit that I have already discussed previously in this thread and in others that I do not agree with. Sure. I agree with and support all of these positions: https://joebiden.com/smallbusinesses/ His plan to give money to small businesses indiscriminately while also taking a focus on small business loans for minorities that may not ultimately be able to is a position I can get behind, though I'd need to see how it was implemented. Obviously providing small business loans is important, and it should be done so through methods that ensure that nobody is being pushed to the curb because they aren't white. https://joebiden.com/education/ Hugely in favor of this one. I plan to be an educator someday, and his plans to not only increase the amount of money teachers make, but also to increase their supplies will make a world of difference to me. I also really support his push to hire more guidance counselors in our public school systems. I don't know if you know this, but often times schools cut corners and only hire one or two guidance counselors for an entire district. Sometimes you get such crazy numbers as 1 guidance counselor for every 500 students. https://joebiden.com/healthcare/ This is also something I highly support. I want to see more coverage, and Biden seems to be pushing for that. He wants to increase tax credits for low income families and dramatically reduce the cost of insurance for everyone. He essentially wants to increase coverage and lower costs. I am a big fan of that. As for how does he get there? I mean, ultimately the democratic party needs to flip the senate and maintain the house. Something tells me this may not happen, but if it did then obviously he would need to make compromises and take what he can. Passing laws, writing executive orders, you know, shit that the president does. I don't think any of his policies are extremely difficult to get through so long as you have the support for it, which is really the only hurdle. The problem I have with this is that I can say the same about trump. Why should we consider the border wall if there is no chance trump will ever finish it? I still think they can be debated, even if they aren't politically viable at this current time. No? I legit just said why I support Biden up top. If you can't accept that Biden falls in line with my principles then fine. Also, again, how is he corrupt? Stop being so godamn vague. Okay? I don't want to get you fired lol? I disagree with you politically because you use a lot of loaded language and speak in vague tongues, but then when push comes to shove you seem more favorable towards republicans than you do towards democrats. I mean, has any of that ever happened to you? Have you ever met a democrat that up and hated you for your beliefs? I mean I know a lot of conservatives in this community that I don't hold any animosity towards. Shit, Indy is practically a MAGAtard and I still think he is pretty cool. I personally don't give a fuck if you say something offensive, but to sit here and say that Republicans are more tolerant is funny. What happend to Milo Yannapolis? Oh right, he started praising pedofilia and he was ostracized. I thought you guys were open to ideas and disagreements? What about when we start talking abortion? Look man, heat comes from both sides I guess, and obviously I could give a shit less about your anecdotes. I literally do not understand what the fuck you are talking about. Stopgap measure? It is called being pragmatic. Sometimes you have to compromise. Sometimes you don't get exactly what you want. I hate to say it but trump wont get his wall, but he was able to compromise and get more mileage and to rebuild the fence in some areas. Cool. I'm happy for him. If he wants to play around in the dirt then fine, so be it. Health care is the same way. I would love universal healthcare, in fact, if we had a single payer system like Canada or the UK i'd be fucking ecstatic, but that isn't something I can have. So, the next best thing is expansion of the ACA or a public option. I support both policies. Is that technically a stop gap measure to you? I am just so confused because you are being so vague. Um, No. See above. What. The. Fuck. Biden is the answer for me. Again, Idk what corruption you are talking about. Yeah, I can compromise because i'm an adult. I recognize that sometimes in life you don't get what you want completely. Yes, trump is my enemy because everything he has done and said goes against my values. Biden fits me more than Trump, so obviously i'm not going to be stupid... i'm going to vote for Biden. This is probably the stupidest fucking thing I think you have ever said. Supreme court justices? They serve for life. Can't reverse that. What about all the geopolitical blunders, like pulling us out of the Iran deal and the Russia agreement? Do you think they are going to come rushing back to those agreements? Russia is happy as hell that they can build nukes again, and Iran not has a deep seeded mistrust of the US, as even if we did get back into a deal with them it could all be scrapped the next time a president comes around. Can we reverse the trade war with China? Can we just say "well, sorry about all that. Hope you can forgive us!" Can we broker peace in the middle east after Trump has expanded our military efforts, abandoned our allies, and fucked over the Palestinians by claiming Jerusalem as the place for our embassy? Can we undo all the precedents set with national emergenices, shutting the government down when you don't get what you want, lying incessantly, attacking the news when they say mean stuff, and constant other failures? Can we reverse the hundreds of thousands of people who have died to coronavirus? No. We can't. It goes to show that you are so out of touch with the damage that our president has done. Do you think family separation is a good thing? Do you think that it can just be waved away? Biden may not be perfect, but compared to Trump he is a godamn angel, and i'll say it every day of my life from now until the end. Okay? Kind of weird for him to lobby to make universal healthcare less attainable while being the VP to the president that literally accomplished that in his presidency, and from the person who has said up and down he is for that. What are you trying to say? I would like to see proof by the way. Please cite a source You could be describing trump right now lol. Again, this is so vague. I literally do not know what the fuck you are on about. Dude you are getting really triggered lol. I am not one of those people that hates trump because he exists, I hate him because he has done shit that I disagree with on a fundamental level and I think he is dangerous for America. Also, again, I would like to see examples of the people biden has fucked over and lied to. It is kind of rich though to go after Biden for lying when Trump lies constantly. Dude, if you don't care, and you think both sides are essentially corrupt an evil, then why do you care who I vote for? Why write an entire novel to tell me that I am wrong if you ultimately have no interest in either candidate? It just seems idiotic. It is like playing football by standing in the middle of the field and bitching about how both teams are needlessly aggressive. I have given this a great deal of thought and i'm not corrupt. In fact, i'm the realest motherfucker you ever met
Free healthcare is lol tier. Yeah bro just give everyone free healthcare on the one of the most unhealthy populations rather than encourage people to take care of their right. And yeah "free higher education" because fuck the labour force right?
Everyone should have the opportunity to reach their higher goals and aspirations, just because you don't have $50k-$100k to put yourself thru 4 years of college doesnt mean you should to be forced to work a dead end or factory job, or be put into crippling debt, but republicans lack empathy for anyone other than themselves. And just because higher education is an option doesn't mean everyone will go to college or not do blue collar work. Free healthcare should be the norm, as it is in every country that isn't ass-backwards.
Yeah what could go wrong, in subsidizing a population which is 4/5ths overweight , nothing at all lol If there were no student loans, very few people could pay the tuition price... and then the price would fall.. funny how that one works.. most people don't need degrees, a good 80% of degree programs shouldn't be offered.
Yeah, I don't find any enjoyment in discussing politics in depth on here, I just like to call out the occasional thing or two and link a source. At the end of the day nobody changes anyone's mind, so I just don't participate.
I find it pretty ironic that this is a SERIOUS GMOD TTT community and yet we have threads about American politics
um, bro john f kennedy was assassinated in 1963. He did no such thing by passing the civil rights act of 1964. (also who cares if he was a democrat. Republicans have passed stuff for minorities, and democrats have as well. Both parties have gone good, and both have done bad. It is stupid to study his party instead of studying what they did) Which btw Kennedy did a lot for the civil rights movement though. He was a great president. If you want to really understand how he went out of his way to help the black community, check out what he did for James Meredith) He tried to pass it, but the southern democrats who were racist did not want it (they were democrats, who gives a fuck.) The bill never passed congress. I just want it credited correctly. Lyndon B Johnson is the one who passed the Civil Rights act. NOT ONLY THAT but he also passed the voting rights act. Now it is true, that the south was in outrage because the blacks got "some rights" But it was the southern democrats that were the political leaders at the time (the same ones that voted against a lot of the New Deal, which was also made up by a democratic president.) So come in 1964, the south was mad, they wanted LBJ out because he gave the blacks laws that sort of "legally gave them rights" (but we all know they weren't treated as if so.) (But Jim Crow was dead by this point, and that was what marked the start of a new revolution.) So they voted for Barry Goldwater (which was a fucking idiot btw) When it came for the next election, 1968, the "southern states" you speak of (the south is bigger than that) but those exact ones with the bigger racist population voted for a big racist, governor Wallace. This man preached bringing segregation back, which is what the south wanted because they were racist cunts, so they did not vote republican, nor democratic, they voted for a racist independent. (worth mentioning that wallace ran on the 3rd party ticket because he did not get the nomination to republican. The republican party did not preach for racism is my point here, which is why he didn't win the nomination). Meanwhile, most of the united states voted for Nixon (mainly due to the red scare situation) And in all honesty, nixon wasn't all that bad for the most part. Its not like he was a super extremist, he was just corrupt. He was corrupt as a senator. He was a crummy person, but there have been shittier presidents. But everyone points to nixon when they want to say "republicans suck" The south did not continue to vote republican after nixon (which btw nixon won a landslide his 2nd term) They voted for Jimmy Carter, a democrat. I just wanted to set the record straight that there isn't any "all racists joined this one party" thats not true. They maybe did during that one point, but that wasn't them joining the republican side. They did it just to try and make the "progressive black lover" not win office for a secondish term. TL;DR -- I just wanted to set the facts straight, especially about LBG because people don't credit him enough ( but he did join us into a fucking shit war) about the progress he made in congress with the civil rights act and the voting rights act. He had a way to just move legislation past congress. Dude had great political power.
@Pacifist Post ended up being deleted and I don't really care enough to re-write it all, so I'll just address the main bit: It's kind of impossible to sum up with examples of corruption to begin with because it spans the entirety of our democratic system. America is built from the top down to support corporate interests. The foundation of this country is built on the exploitation of the working class, and I mean that in the present day. From senators to mayors to governors to presidents- We do not have actual support or protection for the common people. It does not matter if it is a Republican or a Democrat in charge- The people suffer. Major cities become literal shitshows, to the point we have spikes to prevent homeless people from sleeping comfortably. You don't want vaguery? Then tell me what about our country is good, what the Democrats are doing to make it better, what Biden is doing to make it better, and we can talk about that. But I don't see it. I don't care about what he's claiming he wants to do- Obama proved to me how much of that can be bullshit. I care about his history: What has he done, and what happened with the projects he was involved in 5-10 years after they were created. Who did he take donations from? Who did he help more? What has he actually done to progress the values you or I hold? We are one of the, if not the Wealthiest country in the world, and our people are poor. Half the country is Democrat- To pretend like it's the faults of just the Right is willful ignorance. Once you get past all the partisan and political nonsense, and break down these issues to the most basic form, people agree almost universally on almost everything. You might have some finer details about things like abortion where religion plays a part, but barring shit like that everyone really just wants the same thing. The reason we have all this campaigning is purely tribalism. It's because it's easier for politicians to put people into camps, and people will fucking eat it up because when they look over at the other side they just see a wall of middle fingers.
Again, you literally have provided no examples. Don't give me this feels bullshit. If you want me to believe that Biden is corrupt then you need to actually prove it to me. Also, you can't just say "well, Democrats are 50% of the population and therefore they must share the blame" as if that is suppose to mean anything to me. Is it not entirely possible that the majority of the blame can fall on the other 50%? I believe it is. I don't know, but I am not the one pulling shit from my ass and expecting others to just take it on blind faith. Essentially: I think your post is insane and borderline conspiratorial. You sound like you've adopted a narrative that you refuse to get rid of, even though you have no supporting evidence for it. I am simply asking you to take a look at your viewpoint and re-access how realistic it is. Also, I want to buy an australian shepherd.
