This is a fundamental part of Deathrun. Gaining XP for winning as a Death or Runner. It adds an element of Leaderboard and competition for players, trying to get as high as they can. I like the idea of experience and leveling up +1 Why do I think this is good? It gives players an incentive to stay on the server. There's something to work towards similar to TTT's perk system. It's also a bit unique. Every server has a shop where things can be bought, but the vast majority of DR servers don't have a level/xp system in them. However I think it should be set up a bit differently then the one linked. I don't like servers were you able to get lower gravity as it defeats the purpose of some traps on many maps. How I think it should be set up Earning XP I think players should get XP from some of the following: Over time similar to points. (opens question whether or not AFKing should net you experience similar to how you still get points) From killing someone (runner killing death after winning or vice versa) If runners win they get a certain amount of XP If death wins they get a certain amount of XP I think the system should be set up as you get XP passively similar to points but you earn more XP from winning rounds or killing the death. Level rewards For every milestone(every 5 or 10 levels) something should be earned so that leveling up has a purpose. Whether you earn a hat, player-models, or the ability to buy certain player-models and similar. This is just a quick write up but it could be set up like this: Level 5: Able to buy tier one of hats Level 10: Able to buy tier one of player models Level 15: Able to buy tier two of hats Level 20: Able to buy tier two player models Level 30: Earn some sort of special item like a golden crowbar ect ect ect List isn't super thought out, just some possibilities. Most likely a lot better options. I'd say keep the player models for donations separate from the ones you can earn through leveling up. As in the donation models stay just for donators. These would just be extra models you can get on the side. This gives players something to work and the more players are invested in the server, more likely they are to stay and play. Currently unless you donate you can only purchase those 5 default gmod player models and they're all rather ugly.
100% this, apart from the idea of earning it passively, it essentially becomes points if you allow users to earn them without any skill.
I feel if we combine this with allowing people to get models by reaching certain levels (Not shitty HL2 ones either) it will make people play the servers more and allow us to thrive on DR. Please take this into consideration @Disruptionz and @Highwon
I like the idea @Tinbuster00 but I only have one thing instead of levels I think there should be ranks like for example, Learning-(Amount of XP Needed) Beginner-(Amount of XP Needed) Rookie-(Amount of XP Needed) Regular-(Amount of XP Needed) Good-(Amount of XP Needed) Skilled-(Amount of XP Needed) Amazing-(Amount of XP Needed) Awsome-(Amount of XP Needed) Boss-(Amount of XP Needed) Professional-(Amount of XP Needed) WTF-(Amount of XP Needed) Brutal-(Amount of XP Needed Glorious-(Amount of XP Needed Unbeatable-(Amount of XP Needed) Hacker-(Amount of XP Needed) Insane-(Amount of XP Needed) Legendary-(Amount of XP Needed) MLG-(Amount of XP Needed) Almost God-(Amount of XP Needed) God-(Amount of XP Needed) Just a suggestion for the ranks.
