So a mob of people were in an area, and I heard the clinking of a frag. I jumped out of the way, while most people didn't because they weren't paying attention. Someone saw my jumping away and assumed I threw it, and proceeded to say "Salisian, why did you throw that frag?" repeatedly over voice. This isn't a direct KOS, but the accusation said to me that the guy was going to shoot me at his first opportunity. So he followed me around as I chased DNA, and I came upon a decoy. I knelt with my back to everyone and shot the decoy, at which point he killed me for "traitor baiting". The mod online at the time didn't slay him either, and I knew that's how it would go down because I knew the guy would lie in the report, just as he lied the entire time. I could have uploaded proof, but it's generally not worth the time, since there's no proper penalty for lying in reports. The point is, this could have been avoided if I could have executed the guy for accusing me of performing a traitorous act in the first place, when I clearly had not. I know most people will take "so and so threw a frag" as a KOS, but is it completely logically equivalent, in terms of RDM rules? People do this to me all the time because I know to jump away from frags that haven't been cooked long enough to explode instantly; I'd like to be able to preemptively defend myself against people who have announced their intention of RDMing me.
Announcing that someone has done a traitorous act can be acted upon like a KoS. For example, if I said "Salisian just passed an unid'd body!", someone could treat that like a KoS.
They never called a KOS on you for that frag, they just had suspicion. If you would've killed them for that, that would be considered RDM. And yes, for the report, that would be Word vs Word, meaning that the mod can't prove anything just going of logs. Now, if the mod would've seen the whole thing happen, that would be a different story. Next time something like that happens, try to record it and report him on the forums under the Report Player section.
People are squirrely enough to know that they can slide under the radar with these accusations, and get someone ELSE to do the dirty work of actually calling the person out. They should be held accountable for their false assumptions. When the punishment for it is just a single slay, it hardly feels worth all the effort of sifting through recordings, converting, and uploading. Now, if blatant lying resulted in a ban, it might become worth it.
If a player mentions or announces that you have committed a traitorous act you can be killed for it and you can kill the player who said such things. It is in fact, treated as a kos.
But it would be RDM though. You can't act on information other people say. It's like "I have DNA on Sinz. You know what to do" someone had that bind I said "KOS SIN.. NO" Unless I am wrong, correct me.
@LegoGamerGuy You are completely wrong. You can't kos someone saying they have DNA because having DNA on someone means they killed someone, which could possibly a traitor. You don't know who he killed and thus if you act on that DNA it would be RDM. Unless it is something like "I got this DNA on you from an innocent body" you cannot act on that statement.
Well, I didn't KOS sinz. Sinz said not to and I thought while I was speaking. Anyway, thanks. Oh wow! I just noticed I hit 1,000 posts
I was making an example. Say we were playing on 67th way, and I watch you kill an innocent by the pool and run from the body. The moment I say "LegoGamerGuy killed an innocent and didn't ID the body!" It can be taken as a KoS.
An accusation is a KOS when it's a statement. If you, in any way, shape, or form, directly imply that someone committed a traitorous act, it is considered a KOS. "CDriscoll has a harpoon!" --that is a KOS. "CDriscoll, why do you have a harpoon?" --that is not a KOS.
Two things: I. What about: "I think CDriscoll has a harpoon." "CDriscoll has a harpoon?" "CDriscoll probably has a harpoon." II. Also, I think saying an accusation is a KOS when it's a statement is a distinction without any real weight. Doesn't "CDriscoll, why do you have a harpoon?" imply that CDriscoll has a harpoon and you are only questioning why he has it? That would mean that there would technically be a distinction between "CDriscoll has a harpoon!" and "CDriscoll has a harpoon?". However, we all know that in practice, the technical difference disappears when people hear it over voice chat (because of low quality mics, differences in question tone recognition, etc...) or see it in the chatbox (because many people leave out punctuation or use things like ?!?!?!? or ?????!!!!!!). This could lead to situations where A kills B because A though he heard C say "CDriscoll has a harpoon." over voice chat when C actually said "CDriscoll has a harpoon?"
I disagree. Why does that not result in a KOS? You've stated that CD is in poessession of a traitor weapon, therefore he committed a traitorous act which gives any player the right to kill him. An exact, word-for-word situation can be seen here where @Slicck asks a player why he has a harpoon and another player walks up to the player in question and kills him. Slicck ultimately slayed himself for this event.
I'm gonna have to agree with Sinz on this one. Saying something like that would be the same as me asking a factual question like, "Why isn't Sinz wearing any pants?" From that question, you can determine that Sinz is not wearing pants. However, if I stated, "Is Sinz wearing pants?" or "I don't think Sinz is wearing pants" or "Sinz probably isn't wearing pants," you could not conclude that any of those questions are factual. A "why" question states a observation and questions it at the same time(e.g. Why is Sinz not wearing pants?). This would be the same as simply stating a fact and then questioning it afterward(e.g. Sinz is not wearing pants! Why is Sinz not wearing pants?). Again, asking a "why" question means you have made an observation and are questioning its existence.
if someone asks someone else why they have a T weapon or why they walked away from a body or another T act, it's your choice to kill the accused player because another person witnessed a T act taking place rite?
