We have been having an imposter garry on EU 2 every few days,im not sure how but hes changing his steamID to garry's however the actual garry is offline...I assume hes somehow injecting into the main DLL however garry's anti cheat should detect it.
I think it was him, tried to add him as friend and it was full. Doubt hackers have that many friends. He where there for 1 round and then he left so it happened very quickly.
... I almost don't want to break your heart- but, the real garry hasn't been on in sometime... This is a trend right now we are seeing with impostures. I do not recommend adding him. For the security of your account.
It's a bug. www.steamcommunity.com/id/garry -- Yeah.. He doesn't play gmod much. He masks his SteamID as the real garry. Boom! He gets attention and then leaves. Still... if it was garry, don't be like omg omg garry. Heh, he would likely WANT to leave if people did that. They're humans too. Also Vimeo?? Just why? lol
Well he is using Garry's STEAM ID so it makes sense that you get redirected to the actual Garry's page when you try to add him. But yeah, as Ravin said, don't add him.
Told y'all I remember the 1st time i saw this shit 2 years ago,it was practically unheard of then,steamID spoofing is a real pain so then it was just people who coded their own tools doing it.
If you see a garry impostor join a game and you want to check if he's legit type "status" in console. Then, highlight their Steam ID and paste it into steamrep or steamidfinder. Since their Steam ID is not spoofed when checking the server's status, you'll be able to see their real profile page and check if they're actually the real garry. I've done this the past three times "garry" has joined, and each time "garry" was just an impostor. Fun fact, two of the three had recent vac bans on their accounts and one of the those two actually returned to speed hack on the servers.
It requires a modification to a core Garry's Mod file. Due to this, I would say you can ban them. If you ban them do it by Steam ID and make sure that the ID is not STEAM_0:1:7099 (Garry's official Steam ID).
