Why you should be unbanned:

So playing TTT like usual and suddenly carned gets karma banned. This causes the whole server to crack up and make jokes. Someone said someone should change their name to "Carned Not Karma banned" or something. We are all having fun about it so I decided to take it up and change my name to "Carned V2.0 Not Karmabanned :^)". After a few laughs at my name TTT resumes as usual.

A couple handful of rounds later the game suddenly drops and I am at my menu screen. No screen that says I am kicked or lost connection. So at this point I am kinda confused but I had an idea what might of happened. So I rejoin the server and use @ to ask the admins what happened, and if I was kicked or not. Suddenly game ends again only this time there is a screen saying what happened. "Banned for refusing to change name". That's the most ridiculous trigger happy ban I have ever seen. Instead of talking it out or explaining to me why I was kicked since I didn't see the message in the first place it goes straight to ban.

I am really getting tired of the mods not trying to talk to the player about what they did wrong and instead going straight to the punishment. Also kicking mid round? That's pretty messed up.

Back in the days I used to moderate a server called Xfactor gaming, which later became Thunderbolt gaming. We had rules in place to make sure that players weren't unjustly punished and to make sure that the full situation before jumping to a punishment. Slays or kick were never allowed so a players experience isn't ruined until it's he or she knows what he did and why he is being slain. This also prevent jumped conclusion bans/slays/kicks. It was an innocent until proven guilty policy. We also talked to the players to get there side of the story, if details weren't clear enough and there was no report. Usually for things that didn't involve a report though.

Anyways that's my wordwall. I don't remember who kicked me because I have short term memory issues.

tl;dr Kick screen with reason didn't show up so I rejoined to find out why and got insta banned.​

Hello, Swagsweeper. Hope your day is going well.

I kicked you with the reason being "Do not impersonate staff. Change your name." This reason should have been made apparent to you when the message popped up with you being kicked. Ex: Kicked: Reason (Do not impersonate staff. Change your name). When you came back, with the same name, that's when I went to banning you for 8 hours. Unless you were spamming escape, or were clicking like mad and accidentally pressed OK, I cannot feasibly see a reason why you would not be able to view your kick message.

My solution is this. I will be adding you on Steam and ensuring your name is changed back. Once I have reasonable assurance that your name no longer has any part of a name connected to any staff on the TTT servers, your appeal will be accepted, and the ban will be voided.

 

Yeah that was the weird thing though. It brought me to the server list screen. I didn't press anything when it happened besides "wasd" or something. I tried looking for the message but couldn't find it. It could have bin a freak rare bug or perhaps I did press something without realizing it.
