SeriousTTT Low Population is a new server. It is nice but no one plays it. I think highwon will remove it soon.. I mean some kind of LP only event would be nice.. Or something. Maybe we could remove LP and add EU because I have seen a ton of people who are around the EU area and would like better ping. I am sure with 18 slots but EU would bring more people. Any thoughts? Also do not move this to suggestions, this is a discussion, not a suggestion.
LP has been slow on activity probably due to people just being used to the old servers. Also, finals are going on, people are occupied with school, etc. Wait until summer, I would assume it will boom around then.
The original EU server was a colossal failure when it was first created. I honestly do not believe that giving that server another go would work out or if Highwon even has plans to do that again. That is just my opinion though. Like i stated before, I believe LP will grow if it were to have some exclusive maps that 36 players cannot play on and also what Muffin said.
An EU server might succeed now, who knows. Although I'm still a tad skeptical due to most of the player base being based in the US, but I wouldn't at all be opposed to trying it out.
There's like 5-10 people in every east server that are from the Europe or Asia. I really think a LP EU server would be great. Having this LP server hosted in America is really dumb IMO. Since most of our players are from the US, they have 5 servers hosted in the US that have 36 slots each. That's 180 slots, most don't even stay on that long. I mean we can wait until summer but I am trying to say a lot of mods are from Asia and Europe, and that's just mods; think about the players.
Mate, I live in the US. I want EU because it is time, there's more than enough players to fill this 18 slot server, and even if we want to, we can have one with 36. But for now 18 is fine. And it isn't fun to play with 200+ ping 24/7. It will enhance the game play for the EU/Asia players.
I like the idea of using the extra LP server for things that divert from the regular STTT server substance. I've never played on the LP server, so my say doesn't mean much, but here are some general ideas if there's problems with it currently: 1) Have it be a new feature testing server. Members can think of it as early access for the other servers, and be a part of the testing process that usually only staff are a part of (i.e. new map suggested that looks good, it gets put on LP, members play on it and decide if it should be incorporated, as well as find any flaws in it). I'm sure that with an announcement that a new map, or traitor equipment or something was to be tested there, it would fill up immediately. 2) Have it be for special events, as it's been suggested. We could potentially revamp the rules and current functions of "Trouble in Terrorist Town" to create slightly revamped versions. For instance, to copy ToS a little bit, add one or two more roles aside from traitor, innocent, and detective. The potential for community brainstorming here is really amazing. Instead of adding an entirely new gamemode, like it's been suggested, why don't we jut mutilate the standard practices of TTT a little bit? Other special event things could be more point oriented, or simply just some more fun rounds (which, I don't know how hard it is to actually CREATE these, but once more, if it became even slightly an option, the community brainstorming on it would be very interesting, and I think with our minds joined on a task, we could potentially create something that would become popular even outside of our servers). Now both those suggestions kind of sound like Guinea pig experiments, but there's something else to them that I really like the thought of. That being, they're both solely community oriented. Either we the community test new features out and give our 2 cents, or we the community brainstorm ideas together. It's my belief that with a server so small, we should use it the best we can for the community, and as it currently seems, having a LP server that follows the same basics of regular STTT isn't working out so well. If any of these suggestions were implemented for some reason, and the servers filled up fast/often, we could create a password for them given only by forum members, to really reinstate that "community" vibe, as well as pump some new blood into our forums. To say it in other words: Server should function with the purpose of straying away from the regular norms of STTT, and therefor, hopefully create something new and exciting that will help keep people from getting bored of playing only TTT, while at the same time not adding new gamemodes. It would create a network of creativity in our community, with lots of people brainstorming and coming up with ideas together, with the thought in mind that their idea could potentially have an impact. This of course, would also mean a hell of a lot more work for Highwon, and whichever dev we pick next. That is the biggest issue I can see.
Best way to get players to play is to add new maps that aren't available on the other servers. I know myself and many others just want new maps and are tired of the same few being selected over and over again.
As for the EU server... My only actual issue (as I've never witnessed LP in the flesh, nor have I seen the EU server which has been said to have existed before) would be having to get an entire staff team located in Europe, to avoid ping issues while staffing (just like the reason EU server is wanted is to avoid ping issues for European people). Considering the timezone differences, and the issues we are already having with night staff, it doesn't seem entirely possible to me to find a group of staff that can access the European servers fairly well, and to find them in such excess that they can be there often.
I know many players from other communities that are British and would love to help staff a server. The reason they currently don't play STTT is because of lag. I believe I could quite easily have the staff team filled within a day.
That would be amazing then. If we could branch out the community more to include Europe better, I could see it benefitting the community really well.
Like Muffin said, part of the reason why LP is so sparce is most likely due to the finishing school year. When summer rolls around, I'm pretty sure that LP will be filled with regulars, but I guess we'll have to wait to see. An EU server is something that we tried a long time ago and, like Carned said, we had a lot smaller of a playerbase at the time. I think it'd be a good addition, but I think we should wait until we get LP off onto its feet. The 5 servers were already a bunch of work for the higher ups, and it's be bad to make additions so soon and divide the attention between them.
+1 There's a lot of events going on right now for people. For me, I have to fill in extra hours at work because people have exams and asked me if I can fill in for them so they could study and the such. But the times I have played on LP, it was amazing. A server full of regulars and staff is honestly calm and really fun. It's the type of environment this community needed.
Alright, I see that you guys are busy. It is a bummer that no one plays on LP at the moment. But I am not suggesting make an EU server ASAP, I am just asking; why have SIX US servers. It is really sad considering the community has grown and there's more players on the other side of the world than there was back in 2014 and 2013.
@Quit question yourself as to where most of the player base is from now ask yourself why six U.S servers. Lol
TIMEZONES. Not everyone is on at the same time, and all players don't stay on all day. Timezones are still different in Europe but there's still like that 25% that want a EU server. And I support it. But let's not just be one-sided. How about we have a server for those people, we might even bring in more people from Europe with this server. If our all of our servers were in Europe would we be known by people in NA? Not really.... Americans don't want to play with 200/300 ping. I mean really no one does. But if we had a server in Europe we might drag in more people, raising that 25% to a 30
Like any server, it takes time to build up popularity. Even with our community base, alot of our servers get populated by players who see our server on the server list due to the amount of players online. Because we have a low cap on the low pop server, only people searching for a low pop server will find it. And if isn't populated enough, they won't join. The more often we as a community can keep it full, the more player base we will build of people who will favorite it and revisit it time and time again. As for the topic of the EU server, the same fundamentals apply. People sort by population and then filter by ping, if we as a community can maintain it until it gets off the ground it will succeed (as is the case with the LP server). But if no one helps out with the EU server, it will fail. Like before. I think it may be near the time to implement an EU server again, but that's up to Highwon.
