Do you guys think we should be allowed to access the logs for shooting after the end of the round just like damage logs?

Theres no set way in the damagelog configs to allow this an also this would still cause arguements of loopholing ex player a rdms player b player a checks shot logs end round and sees that player b shot before he killed him though it was at the ceiling or out of player a's sight player a will just say he t baited.

This was already discussed here: http://www.seriousgmod.com/threads/extended-chat-shot-logs.17811/

As you can see, shot logs are very unhelpful when printed from the console because every single shot is printed which can produce a page miles long.

I would, however, be in favor of shot logs being saved in the old logs so that staff members can better investigate reports when no staff were present.

That wont matter if it said he shot or not and someone lies about it because it will be one player's word against anothers, but im saying this will help especially if a mod isnt online when u are reporting someone and they lie and say u shot when u didnt tahts how it would help

It matters because it will cause more arguements and more loopholing. players have claimed lies and they have been proven false as the logs from that round back up the reporters claim and prove the reporteds claims false. Even if it may help with reports the cons out weigh the pros. At least in my opinon.

The reason im saying this is that one of my reports i made basically was invalid because the person i reported said he saw me shooting even though i didnt

Sure you can't prove it but that staff that did your report checked shot logs to see if his response matches up like he killed you 1-5 seconds after you fired a shot.

This is why I am saying that it would be better if shot logs were recorded in the old logs so staff could see who shot first. I do not think the console shot logs would be particularly useful.

then why are mods allowed shot logs and we arent we should be allowed the option for this because if mods arent online and u want to report someone on the forums the accused can just say he saw me shooting

@GunAndBomb while that may be mighty helpful do we know how much space old logs alone take and to record every shot of every round that'd use a lot of space.

Perhaps. Maybe they could be deleted after a week? Keeping them for a month like the damagelogs would be too much space I assume. We don't know how much space Highwon has though.

  14. i'm afraid this will lead to loophole rdming/trolling.. i know because i used to do it. (big shocker). But anyways, they will see a person shooting, an instant that happens i would shoot them blaming it on t-baiting, shooting at someone or close to them, hell i could go as far to say i saw them shoot a prop at someone to try and kill them.
    • lets all make up a story, round just started, i'm innocent hoping to get a kill, i don't care if its another innocent, so i just jump up and down trying to be as ninja as i can be minding my own business, i look over to my left and i see another person shooting a sniper/rifle at random objects, lets just say hes turning on the fan on that bedroom map, hes not doing anything, minding this own business, well lets just say i hate him , i don't like him so i kill him. (OK, boring story). He reports be *based on a true story, not gonna lie* and i would just reply (i saw him shooting at people next to the bed). BY the way, i did get caught. And anyways you would just get off the hook.
i'm blabbered enough, unless you can add a bullet history where you see bullet marks to where you shot, then you wouldn't see this in any update. SORRY.

I personally enjoy looking at logs, it helps players report RDM etc...

Exactly it would help with some of the rdm reports especially ones where people said they shot when they actually didnt but lied so they wouldnt get punished. this doesnt work when mods are online but however if this report is on the forums u cant prove that you didnt shoot unless you had access to the shooting logs aswell as the damage logs

Players dont know more than mods 90% of the time. No matter if you think you do. So you dont need this. Record your gameplay if you're going to cry about who shot first, on unstaffed servers.

This is completely unnecessary and wont ever be added.

Im saying this would be useful for when mods arent online, and i agree mods do know better than most players but im saying this should be for when mods arent online so if there are cases where u need proof of shooting you could use the logs. Video footage is useful but can be very unreliable for example someone's footage could be pretty laggy so it could look like someone shot first when instead it was actually you , or in a rare case quality of footage could be really bad that you cant tell what is going i personally believe it would be really useful to just have them there just incase.

If shooting logs are so unnecessary you could say the same for damage logs, because if mods know better than players 90% of the time whats the problem. So you dont need this. Record your gameplay if you're going to cry about if he damaged, on unstaffed servers. that is what u are basically saying

  20. atomic.. your really missing the point. Without damage logs, no one can saw anything about damage cuz no one will know who damaged who and with shooting logs, it will just be (Hyper Shot 144 bullets that round) WHO THE FUCK IS GONNA GET INFO FROM THAT! i'm triggered..
