https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SourceTV#Recording_Games Basically enables us to record games in its entirety. Dunno if it's possible for Gmod, for us, or if it's already implemented already. Allows us to view rounds from each player's perspective, although client side visual bugs (he really saw someone get shot, blood everywhere, but no damage etc etc) probably won't be seen. Someone posted something like this some time ago, and Carned provided me with the link, so credits to them.
GMOD itself already has a Server Demo. all you need to do is just type in console <record> <name of the file you want to save> after that once you finished recording you can type <stop> How to get the file. you can replay the file by typing <play> <name of the file> if you wish to export the dem file to email you can retrieve it from gmod folder itself.
No, this suggestion is about a server demo. It can automatically record rounds, and store it somewhere. This isn't about a personal demo.
this is sourcetv, this is a program that records all rounds, and if you have it enabled, you can spectate a game via a webbrowser if you so desired. If I remember right it is live footage as well as recorded.
"To automatically record every single game you can set tv_autorecord 1. Automatically recorded demo files will be named after the map and date/time when the recording started (auto-YYYYMMDD-hhmm-map.dem)." That's an amazingly convenient way to store them, and you can change which player you can track, which makes it perfect for judging situational reports.
Just realized, this gets rid of word vs word problems since we can just watch the footage and see what REALLY happened.
+1 +1 i WILL SUPPORT THIS Idea. i really hate some people who just call a kos on me because i walked away from a Traitor, and then their reason is GBA
This is interesting. How much strain would this put on the server though? Video files are usually very large, this would probably cost highwon a lot more due to the bandwidth increase he would need for his servers. +1 from me if it would work.
Would cause lag to go up. We already have enough lag from the addons and such. Don't need more. Just use sourcetv for yourself.
How laggier will the server be though? Maybe it's only so much that it's viable to sacrifice for better RDM management and such.
