I guess I'am a witness, he did ban him very quickly. I'am going to say in about a few seconds.

As a staff member, I am not obligated to give any player preferential treatment, regardless of time played on our servers or rank. To be doing so would to be showing favoritism and undermining my own beliefs as a staff member.

I'll tag @Falcor to go over this and hopefully reach a verdict soon (probably tomorrow morning).

We notice a few things here:

I did put the idea in winchesters head to rejoin to refresh lottery
He typed "Retry" which is literally the fastest way possible to rejoin
He said in the report response "ill take the slay" and pmd me, he KNEW he had to take the slay, he wasn't trying to be malice

Winchester also has no recent history, he knows the rules and is one of our cleanest players
wink somehow seems to have had two other valid reports against him for his aggressiveness towards banning folks, some history there.

I would like to inform you that there is no required time threshold that staff are to wait for players to reconnect. It is a courtesy we extend to players when we have the opportunity to do so. This is our courtesy.
Your courtesy would have been to inform us that you were in fact attempting to reconnect while you had a slay, regardless of the reason. It is not fair to the players you RDM'd if you do not serve your slay.

This extends to ban appeals. It truly is our courtesy to unban a player if we see fit, based off the factors of the situation. Sorry to say, but I did not feel the need to take the courtesy in this situation when you failed to extend yours by informing me before the disconnect. I chose to be by the book with this punishment in this ban appeal, and that's that.

 

How is winchester not worthy of an unban? Instantly asked you what happened, he knows hes guilty, he rejoined in less than 30 seconds. What facts are you saying he isn't worthy of an unban, he did literally nothing wrong but not saying "oh hey brb". I'm a player with 2000+ hours and an extensive knowledge of rules and I would have done the same. You are literally hiding behind "I'm not OBLIGATED" yea sure you aren't, but to literally ban someone in under 18 seconds just shows you're a dick, and then denying the ban appeal just further shows how much of a dick you are.

In many TV shows and in real life there are judges who ONLY stick to the book and have no mercy, are they considered the "best" judges or are they praised? No, they are called hardasses and no one likes them. So what good does a staff member do if they are a giant hardasss and disliked by the community. You are supposed to SERVE the community and HELP it, how are you helping it by banning an honest player who made one mistake of rdming someone???

 

Also I find it very funny that you are supposed to be very attention to detail oriented wink, yet you failed to notice that @HuskyJimbo had forgiven winchester anyways, and would have not filed a report himself but only chose to since he figured winchester could not be forgiven, as an admin you could have easily given discretion. That is of course their fault in game, but for you to not notice it after just shows that you aren't out for justice or fairness, you are out with a personal agenda.

 

As a neutral third party, seeing as to how all evidence has been provided in this report against wink, I am going to close it until @Falcor can give her verdict.

 

Hey Winchester,

I reviewed the Appeal and this report.
You're reporting wink for banning to quickly.
As stated previously Staff do not have a set amount of time to wait before issuing a ban.
The moment you leave the server, you are at risk of a ban being placed.

Winchester I have played with you a lot and I'd say we enjoy playing together.
One thing I always can commend you for is your communication with staff that are on at the time.
You always message asking if its safe to leave or letting me know you're relogging and to please not issue the ban if I need to issue a slay on you.
Unfortunately you forgot to do this last night.

Once a staff member notices your leaving they have the obligation to ban you. Giving a courtesy round to relog, is a courtesy and not mandatory from our staff.
Wink was in the right to issue your ban, regardless of how fast it may have seemed. Wink followed protocol during this situation. Due to this, Report is Invalid.

@Xproplayer Thank you for taking the time to provide another angle of what happened, it's always appreciated having another point of view especially on reports.
But you can not comment on appeals and reports to flame someone and call them names. Please refrain from that in the future. It's unnecessary and only causes issues for everyone.
