Arcanius Oh, you like it there VIP

Many time I see many newcomers break the rules such as no killing on suspicion, and what is their excuse? "Sorry I didnt know". Therefore im suggesting a rule agreement that will be forced onto any player's screen that joins the game, and if they dont accept the rules, they will simply be kicked.

And if they accept the rules... that'd mean it is done "knowingly" (Ex: Terms and Conditions agreements), then what? Immediate harsh punishment for "knowingly" breaking the rules?

Or we just go ahead business as usual.

Do you really think that this will solve the problem? Firstly, all they would do is press agree without reading it, therefore they still don't know the rules. Secondly who in the right mind would press disagree, just like any registration to any game, you want to play the game without reading some boring text.

This would be the same as them clicking the "close window" option. All you're doing is re-labeling the button.

Ignorance is no excuse for rule breaking.

This is seriousTTT, if you agree to the terms and conditions, you agree to get destroyed with slays when you knowingly RDM, because you know... you agreed to it. (y)

I am afraid to say that, although your observation makes sense, it is not correct. The server is called SeriousTTT because its previous owner (before Highwon) had "Serious" within its username just like how i might name a server "MetallicTTT".

maybe vip weapons should be in the rules as non-traitor weapons because ive been killed many times for this.

    In vanilla ofcourse

Players are going to be punished pretty much the same way, regardless of ignorance. The only thing that will ever make a difference is if it is a repeat offender or not. In theory, the suggestion is great, but realistically, this won't have any true benefit. As mango said, it is just re-labelling the close button. Players learn from either actually reading the rules (which you can never FORCE them to do), or by learning from theit mistakes. Call it human nature, there's nothing you can do to change it.

It's a -1 from me, the suggestion isn't really needed. Thank you though, for taking the time to write up this post, your desire to help these serveRd grow is appreciated.

More or less underlined that as a joke.

Just how we joke around saying "No jokes, this is seriousTTT." Hence more serious action was implied w/ the underlining in my comment.

If the players didn't know about the rules (due to not reading the MOTD), then they learn about the consequences the hard way. Simple as that. Save the kicking for harassment.

It would be great if we had a way to make sure people read the rules. Sadly, many just skip right through it. Come on, do you read the terms and conditions of anything? I certainly don't. It's the same for the newcomers that join, they just want to play.

I don't even know why this is still being debated. Players get the rule page twice when loading into the server and twice with each map change. Staff also have a global message asking players to read the MOTD for the rules and protocol.

Fun Fact: Mr. Serious got his name from the a server, because he and Highwon wanted to present themselves as a serious TTT server. It was not the other way around.

  14. If I may suggest, a ulx command woud be nice. We could create a ulx cmd for staff that would be !rnotify <playername> <rule number>

The commands function could be a menu that pops up in the middle of a players screen and forces them to stare at it for a minute. The menu would contain the rule specified by the rule number stated in the cmd. This would be used when players break a rule and say they didnt know.

As a previous server owner I had this option on my server for a short while.
Making players read the MOTD, and having that on rules as standard. They could not click accept for a few seconds after they joined.
Not only did it enrage the existing playerbase, it also did not improve anything at all.
People will not read it, even if they are forced to. They will simply alt-tab, or twiddle their thumbs untill they can play.

The people who want to know the rules, will read them in the loading screen, or will bother to type !motd.. They will find a way to care and read the rules.
The lazy people will be lazy and will not care nor bother. They will simply use 'I didn't know' as an excuse.

A ulx command would only increase the amount of work a staffmember would have to do (they'd have to learn all the rules by heart, so they can message a player with the correct rule)
Besides that, they would only be able to message that rule after the person already broke it. which would defeat the purpose.
It is far easier to tell them to type !motd and read the rules, so they not only read the one thing they did wrong, but also the other rules they might've gotten wrong in the future.

I personally think it's moot. As said above, people who want to know the rules have them available for reading, and most offenders break any given rule only once. They get slain and their lesson is learned, problem solved. Yes, it's a pity that the one case of RDM wasn't prevented, but that's as much as you can reasonably ask of the system that TTT is built around.
