My Experiences on the Servers Recently.

Me being one of the oldest members of the community I have been noticing something on the servers that have not really happened in the past. As in the past I've not really have problems such as.
Like as you see right here, It's a clear head shot, but for some reason it has counted as a body shot. This is a thing that I have been experiencing on the servers. Also as you see i am using an HK SL8. it is very easy to notice things like this when you use a gun that is semi automatic, but for players that use the AK its not as easy to catch. Due to the fact that the gun shoots extremely fast and therefore it not very easy to notice that one of your shots don't count.

So I'm going to bring up some things from the past. I am doing so because I feel that this for some reason needs to be put in. So last year, (Yes. this was a long time ago.) I wasn't using the HK. then again I wasn't the best at games because I was still fairly new the PC games. I was one of the people that used the AK 47, now when before when I used the AK 47 I never experienced what I have today. Now when I use the AK it is horrible the bullets barley even register half the time for me anymore. Now some might say I have bad internet which is not true what so ever.

So this is my internet now. before when the hit registration was good for me (east or west) it was fine I was able to use any gun without a problem and would never notice that a bullet didn't register. That was last year like i said and my internet used to be 50Mb Download-5Mb Upload.
See here, there is a big difference in my internet speed then and now and I have stuck with the same internet provider since then. So as you see this couldn't be a connection issue I feel it is the server falling behind and not being able to keep up with all the things that are occurring on the server at once. Also one thing that comes to mind is why would this be starting to be a noticeable thing now and not in the past.

Anyways I'm done with that and now going to show you more of the wonderful hitreg that the server and gmod together itself brings us but sadly i don't have any video with the AK

 

Me and Winchester @kingsaib0t both think this is due to updates made in the large gmod update in october, hitreg as felt wrong since then.

 

I have 300mbs Internet and Avg ping of 10 and this happens to me way more than it should also

 

The heartbreaking feels.. same here.

 

In the last clip you definitely didn't hit the detective in the head, instead you hit him behind the head and damaged the shoulder area, the detective has a neck, and head hit box, and they don't seem to clip through each other too much, the terrorist models, on the other hand don't have necks, but that isn't really something that major to fix. The HK SL8 also doesn't have dead center accuracy, and the bullet spread of a weapon is square, and not circular, meaning it will miss more than it will be in the general center of the crosshair, which I don't agree with.

 

My ping has an average of about 35 which shouldn't cause any issues. I use the AK-47 all the time, and even I have had occasions where I would shoot, seeming to be a quick kill only to have been turned around and killed in an instant. Now I like a few others need to be careful for I myself am not the best at this so my aim isn't the best. But even so from my some what limited experience I would say there is a subtle difference in shooting etc.

 

You know.. now that I see your clips - I was experiencing similar things with pistol shots a few days ago..I also noticed r@ymond expiercing the same thing on the same map (can't tag him).

 

Thats due to a player still loading in, not hitboxes or hitreg

 

this player was actively playing rounds before.. so that wouldn't make sense.

 

Then they rejoined and were loading in or their internet lagged or something, whats happening is your computer is telling the server "damage this player" to the server, the server then tells that player "you got damaged" but the player isnt connected well to the server so they never say "okay" to the server and accept the damage.

 

My AK47 hit reg clip that happened less than 5 minutes ago.

 

Dat falling death, and yea thats hitreg that dude could have had bad ping or something.

 

I was walking forward so I can move on and go kill more people but nooo he doesnt die leading me to fall to my death. FeelsBadMan

 

and his ping is also 40 btw.

 

Bad hitreg then, go lookup net settings optimization and interpolation for gmod you might be able to improve it a bit

Stopped reading after that.

 

I can't really add any clips to this, because I don't record my gameplay, but for sure I can confirm on both the shooting and being shot end of things commonly not going how they should due to hitboxes acting strangely.

 

Thats when i made my forum account. i had other forum accounts in the past that i have lost passwords to. I been apart of the servers since they first started ask highwon himself. Or the next time you see me just check my adminstats <:

 

When the mod doesn't take time to see he has a ban back in 2013.

 

Something definitely changed after the October update for Gmod. I am not sure what could possibly cause this but hit registration seems to be less accurate since then. You are not the first to report this and by the amount of people mentioning this I'm sure something is wrong.
