Lewd Sprays & The Rules

Hello everyone, it's me, it's ya' boy, Used Cat Salesman.

I'd like to bring up lewd sprays, because I, akin to many others, enjoy having them. Now, the rules explicity state that porn / gore / disgusting avatars and sprays are not to be allowed on the server, which includes:

• Arousing images that / videos depicting sexual content, general nudity, sex toy/objects, or sexual substances.
• Blood, cut body parts, people/creatures being injured, bodies/corpses, and similar things.
• Content that is graphic, disgusting, or unstelling.

I'll say that I agree with most of this. However, I'd like to direct people to recent change in rulings considering racial and homophobic slurs, where now we are allowed to say and type those things as long as it is not directed at anyone in any hateful way - I don't personally enjoy saying the n word or whatever, but all the power to us - you're (mostly) adults, y'all can make your own decisions.

Ever since this rule was changed however, this has caused other rulings to seem odd in the presence of it. I've seen people scream out the word n word, a word, that in history, is so rooted in hate, and and oppression. But when it comes to having semi-lewd sprays, that's still a big no-no. I think that's weird and a discussion should be had about it.

That being said, I don't think outright porn should be allowed. But I do think, alongside the recent rule change in slurs, it should be loosened a bit to allow borderline stuff at the least. If things are covered up, I think it'd be good to go. If people aren't going to get offended by some random screeching the n word, then I'm pretty sure they won't get offended by some figure in a seductive pose.

Hoping for a keen conversation about this, and to not get shutdown immediately. Regardless, just food for thought.

with the slur rule if you don't like someone saying it you can just mute them in the tab menu, I'm not sure you can do the same with disabling porn sprays if you didn't want to see them.

Plus what cow said is the main reason no reason to show children that shit lol

 

I already said that outright porn shouldn't be allowed. I just believe the spray rule should be loosened slightly to allow more borderline things - actual nudity and porn should still be yeeted out.

I don't think you can't take the moral high ground on not showing that to kids, but then start introducing them to words like 'faggot' and 'nigger'.

 

There is no moral high ground here. I'm saying its easier to get rid of one for the individual player that doesn't want to hear/see it.

 

I agree with that, yeah. It is easier to get rid of one than the other.

Again, not saying we should allow super graphic porn images as sprays - but to loosen the rule up a tad-bit in some areas where applicable.

I have to agree with cowcakes we do have young ones that sometime play the servers so nsfw/lewd sprays are something that can be somewhat of a problem...... It is a rule for a reason and I personally don't think it will change.
Even if it is "borderline" it still can show lewd things adding the sexual content of the spray

 

so seeing as how we're all on the same page going against this idea

Ok then I read some other stuff.

I personally discovered porn at a young age like most people here before the age of 18 same goes for homophobic slurs and the n-word. So I don't see much difference in the actual sense that some people have said on this thread.
The rules are pretty similar for sexual content and the slurs, now again this is only said if the spray is actually not showing any parts of the male/female sexual parts I believe it should be allowed.
For example a spray that shows some parts of cleavage should be allowed cause this is seen in the real world, especially in summer where females usually walk around in revealing bikini's and other types of underwear whilst there are children around.

So most of what people said that is against the rules, are actually already allowed in the real world. (in short)
