  1. Please add a rule where you can't kos yourself
I was reported for false kos (as I called one on myself as a mistake)
and killed for it (by an innocent)

The people who follow through are all trolls as any sensible person knows it's just a joke

Edit: Seriously? This is a simple rule with no drawbacks and of course it's shut down
    just what I expect
Yes I was reported for false kos on myself
    thanks fluffy

  3. What about when you tab and it comes up your name?

It's a stupid rule and the whole "don't kos yourself" is ignorant of the situation

    1. What do you mean by the first question?

    2. It's really not hard to just not kos yourself. What are you gaining from doing so? Dying? I fail to see how what Rek says is ignorant of the situation as there doesn't need to be a situation.

The issue of this first arose in late 2013 when we had a player that would KOS himself every round over voice chat. Granted, we learned his voice and to not follow it, but if a new player joined, they could hear the KOS and kill him.

This caused a drop in the karma of other players. If he got killed by an innocent, it started some kind of chain of RDM and it would affect multiple people.

Now, granted, that is just a situation where it was voice chat and voices can get buried into the voices of everyone else. And you can argue that with chat KOS's, you can see when someone calls themselves a traitor.

That player eventually got a ban for a few months of his trolling and is now permanently banned for his conflict of interest.

This would happen just a small amount of time and could be eliminated with a simple suit zoom bind, so that argument holds little water.

Typically, 95 times out of 100, people that call themselves a traitor are more of a troll than those innocent players that hear/see it and follow it.

Here is why it is a valid rule.

I kos myself on accident (However the deuce that happens) then let's say @C.A.Anna hears this kos and decides to follow through with it, but @BlueCore sees her shooting me and kills her.

If this was placed in the rules as RDM, then I would have gotten both Anna then most likely Blue killed, for no reason. Also, Anna would get a slay for shooting me.

We're not trying to "Shut you down" or hate on you necessarily, just trying to make you understand to either be more careful or just deal with it, as it is in place for a reason.

EDIT: sniped by Mango as always.

Also if I am not wrong... I remember some staff talking about if you were to KOS yourself and you were inno and you got someone to kill you, you falsely kos'd yourself and could be slain for it because you made someone for no reason kill you and harm their karma or something along those lines.

EDIT: Seeing as mango said that is the case, I see it as a deterrent for trolls who get the upper hand on new players like this because they'll be met with a slay.

I kos myself all the time as an actual traitor. And then when I get killed I know it won't be rdm :D

As a strategy it works well against experienced players in two ways. First, everyone wants to kill me, so the innos are so busy searching for me they are paying less attention to their surroundings allowing other traitors to get away with more things.

Second, if I throw on a disguiser players who are searching names for mine are less likely to notice one player doesn't have a name, allowing me to get close enough to a group to do more spray damage

There is reason why you might KOS yourself, but doing it on accident seems like a difficult task. The only situation where it seems possible is if you type in "KOS Chad From Accounting", given that you put the first few characters of your name and Tabbed the rest; assuming that the person who you're actually trying to KOS also has the same first few characters in their name like Chandler or something. But in this rare case you're still putting an accidental KOS, and accident or not you can still be killed for it.

KOSing yourself is against the rules because someone might follow it, then the guy who follows it might get shot by another inno. It's not allowed to prevent good ole RDM trains.

It's a good rule to have as everyone else stated, but I think it's very silly that you can be slain for it.

If you're innocent and you call a KOS on yourself and it causes a mass-RDM
You'll be punished accordingly. It's not silly, just don't be an idiot.

95% of the time that never happens, at least whenever I play. The only thing that happens is an innocent kills you because they know they can, then everything else just rolls on like a regular TTT round.

Either way, you have no reason to call a KOS on yourself. Even if one innocent kids you, it still lowers the karma and ruins that person's experience on SGM servers.

Slaying someone is a deterrent for those individuals that may try to KOS themselves every round. It also follows virtually the same slay punishment as RDM; a warning, then 3 strikes and you're out.

  18. I think we should make it so KOSing yourself turns you into a polar bear. That way, other terrorists won't kill you because you're a bear

Better alternatives have been mentioned in this thread than taking time to make a rule for doing something clumsy. Just be mindful of what you are doing in the future so that you don't end up calling a kos on yourself. If anymore comments need to be added, message me on the forums.
