If a person name is NickGurr can I say his name? I'm not trying to be a racist as I am a Basket Ball American irl but with the new rulings I just want clarity.
If there are staff members on, the player will quickly be asked to change his name. If they decide to not change it then protocol will be followed. As for saying it until then, I'm positive that staff will be lenient towards certain circumstances such as this but do not quote me on this.
The above answers are correct. However, should a player be going out of their way to say the inappropriate name, we will be paying attention to this behavior and taking action if necessary. It's easy to sidestep their full names most of the time. For example, with "NickGurr", you can simply refer to them a Nick. Or another example, "Knee Grows", you could address them as Knee.
