You can just watch the demo when you have the game launched by type "demo name" and it should start playing.
.dem files are quite annoying to work with. They are played in GMod by typing "playdemo (name of demo here)" in console, without the quotation marks. I've had instances where I had to sit in a ~30 minute demo for only 3 seconds of footage, recorded with a third party program, for a report. I wish there were a faster way, but I'm not sure if there is one.
Hello Smiley, My recommendation to convert .demo file into video file is simple, use open broadcaster software (OBS), Links can be found here, https://obsproject.com/ This open broadcaster software can be used for streaming aswell, but please do not do it in our STTT server, Steps to convert a demo file to a video file (suitable for youtube) 1. Open up your Open Broadcaster Software. 2.Open up your garry mod. 3.type playdemo <your file> and let it retrieve the contents, once your in, your demo will start to play, do demoui in your console, and press pause. 4. Go back to your Open broadcaster software and do the following 4.1. Start off by creating a scene, naming it Gmod. 4.2. After creating a scene, create a source. 5. After everything is done, just select your Gmod Scene and press start recording 6. Go back to your gmod and press play (Please note that your current audio from your microphone will be recorded, if you don't want your microphone to be in, mute it or pull it out, and also do not alt tab out aswell in the process of recording) 7.After you have recorded whatever you need, alt tab out and press stop recording. 8. Go to your video folder and retrieve your file (The video file format is .flv, you can't play it normally unless you have a .flv player) 9. Go to youtube, and upload the file there. 10. Able to see the logs of the round. 2. Small in size. 3.clear view of your Point of view. Disadvantage of demo file. 1. Troublesome, you will need to find ways to convert it back into a video file. 2. You are the camera, whatever you recorded in your demo is whatever will be displayed in the final video. 3.Get corrupted without you knowing.
