Fun Round Idea - Prey / The Ship / Assassin's Creed MP After a lengthy discussion in the shoutbox about this topic, where alot of good points were made on both the pros and cons, I've decided to take it to a thread so I can get a larger consensus and feel on it. I understand a lot of the core concepts are going to have to be refined and changed in order to make it work and it to be compatible in TTT. Please don't be afraid to post your thoughts below. Rules: - You are assigned a random target / prey / player within the server. It is your goal to hunt down this one player and kill him. If you successfully kill your target, you are assigned another one until everybody is dead. (Should he be outlined in Green? Tell me what you think below.) - This means you are assigned a hunter / predator, who has the same goal you do, except you are HIS target. Avoid him at all costs and don't get yourself killed! (Should he be outlined in Red? Tell me what you think below.) - You cannot kill any other player BESIDES YOUR TARGET. This means you cant even shoot or defend yourself against your predator. ( Is there a way to code this? It would be hard, but not impossible I don't think. ) I am going to link three videos below that detail the game mode. Watching the actual game being played is a hell of a lot easier then trying to explain over text. Prey: This is the one that most envisions what I am imagining. Simple yet fun. The Ship: A little more complex, but still has the same core concept I imagine. Assassin's Creed Multiplayer: A little more complex, but still has the same core concept I imagine. Pros: - Adds a little variety and style to our current batch of fun rounds. - Easy enough concept to understand. - Alot of fun for people that are fans of The Ship, AC Multiplayer, etc. Cons: - It might be just a tad to complex for first time / beginner players joining our servers. - A little complex compared to simpler games like HS Wars, Harpoon Wars, Etc. (More on this below.) - Might be hard to code, as well as finding a coder to do it. - Some maps are not as good as others for this. Further Suggestions: - Outline your target and hunter in different colors to distinguish who you are looking for and avoiding. I suggest Green for your target and Red for your hunter. - (IMPORTANT) This could potentially be used as a "special" fun round, which is a fun round that has an even lower chance of occuring then the simpler ones. I suggest this only because it is more complex then other fun rounds, and would help balance out the complexity vs fun aspect of this mode. __________________________________________________________________________ This is really all I could think of so far. Any other points you guys add below will be edited into the original post. Like I mentioned above, don't be afraid to provide your thoughts and opinions on these points. Discussion helps things like these grow.
I would like to point out a few more cons: Rounds can last up to 20 minutes depending on map size (maps like Amsterdam) - if you die in one of these rounds, you're forced to sit there, or leave There's no GMod adaptation, so we'd have to hire a coder, or an extremely passionate and trusted regular to do it In open maps (like Camel) there would be little to no places to hide from your attacker, leading for people to hide and wait I do like the idea though, and if we can solve some of the issues, like it not even existing in GMod, I'd like to see how it'd turn out. +1 Also, you used a NerdCubed video. Have all my respect.
This is a great idea in theory. However I do personally think it will be difficult to implement. People have pointed out the idea of camping, well in AC there is a small compass, so we could have the Radar blip once every 15-20 seconds on your target? The big deal is getting this coded. Hopefully Highwon has a trick up his sleeve because i'd love to see this.
That's why I suggest that your target and predator be outlined in two colors. If you feel like camping in this mode, go for it, but its probably not the wisest strategy 1.) You wouldnt get any kills (defensive shell) 2.) You would always be seen by your predator (outline) 3.) You can't defend against your predator anyways, so whats the point.
