Disturbing the Peace [New offense type]

This one's kind of common sense. It's fairly obvious when players are here just to piss off the people in the server. RDM, mic spam after warnings, and just being "that guy" in general. We all know them, we all know what they do, and we all know they aren't wanted by any of the present users.

Predefined offenses do the job when certain criteria are met, but since the mods are entrusted with power in the first place, I believe they should be given a little room to stretch and make their own calls on who belongs in the server.

    It's called Admin Discretion.

80% of mods wouldn't be able to justify a reason for banning someone in a Ban Appeal much more than "Uh, i didn't want you on the server."

Our predefined rules are fine for mods to follow, we can't just ban someone for 1 offence of RDM.

This is pretty pointless & dumb suggestion, not that you've actually suggested anything specific other than "GIVE MODS DISCRETION OMG"

    So yeah, this is pointless.

That way, half the players who report on forums will be banned. Sounds good. Not like we need any of those 150 active players to keep the server running, am I right?

It's not like you'd boot them over nothing. Like I said, if none of the server wants them there (Or most of them at least don't want them there), then why allow them to be there? They're clearly doing something wrong and it's upsetting the actual players.

So you're asking for vote kick but to ask a mod to do the kicking?

This is beyond stupid, people would just get younger members of the community kicked because of their voice.

I can tell you for a fact that nothing like this will EVER be added.

This would only backfire if the mods were bad. Are the moderators here bad? No. They're not. They can use common sense to decide if a player is a nuisance to the server.

Then you don't need you system if the mods are good, with over a year of modding here both as a Mod and Admin, i can tell you that if a player is a big enough nuisance to the server they will be banned based on the MOTD, however we cannot just ban someone because other people in the server do not like them, they have to break the rules, and being liked is not a rule.

And there are plenty of users who come and go, causing trouble while they stay, that the server would not miss if they were removed. The only reason they aren't removed is because of the strict policies that've been set. It allows for plenty of troublemakers to log on, piss everyone off, and leave without any moderation.

I get that it's good to keep moderation strict, but it only does so much. Speaking from experience, sometimes it's best to slacken up and make a decision based on the players' opinions.

You are absolutely wrong in every aspect of this sentence.

The players opinions on a player mean jack shit, hell even a mods opinion doesn't mean anything, the only time a player will be removed is if a the break a rule that results in their removal from the server.

"the only time a player will be removed is if a the break a rule that results in their removal from the server."

Loopholes are a lovely thing and plenty of people think so. People use them all the time to get out of trouble, and it's happened a couple of times on SeriousTTT. It'd honestly be best to give mods some leg room to handle people like that, otherwise it'll negatively impact the experience of the people who're there to actually enjoy the server.

Again, i'm talking in the sense of a moderator, Loop hole trolling once is not a big deal, but when it gets out of control is when an Admin will step in.

A mod is not trusted with this discretion because of their lack of experience, even older mod's cannot use it, they will head to an Admin in this situation.

And what exactly do you mean by "Leg room", let them ban for once Loop hole?

Jog on, you have no idea how staffing works and how much Mods don't need discretion.

You're still not getting the point, this is for those nuisances who constantly use loopholes in order to "Safely RDM" or indirectly harass players. There's plenty of them, and they go unpunished. That, or they are acting like douchebags otherwise and the majority of the server agrees they should not be there.

I haven't played on the server as long as others, but I've played on it long enough to know that admin's discretion is not used nearly enough as it should be. I think I've seen it twice in 90 hours of play, when there's plenty of other people who could've had that special kind of removal.

Admin discretion happens mostly without you knowing anyway. If it was used 24/7 this would abuse of power, hence why it is reserved for Admin's only.

And for the millionth time, the server doesn't and will never decide if a player will be in the server.

I'm finishing the argument because Mod discretion will NEVER happen, and i'll let @Sinz explain to you more if you need to.

Well regardless of whether or not it'll be permitted, it doesn't make it any less of a decent idea. If someone negatively impacts the experience of the regulars and actual players, they should be removed. No harm would be done, and the server would be more user-friendly.

Simply put, players are easy to aggravate and quickly overreact to small situations. You have no idea how many times I've seen an entire server get riled up over a "squeaker," an accidental RDM incident, or a rude player when in reality they have broken no rules. "User-friendly" entirely depends on the users, and often, the users like to over-exaggerate incidents which happen to them personally.

If a player is truly toxic, a moderator can and often will go to an administrator for discretion and 9/10 times, they will recieve it. If you would like to see "moderator discretion" I urge you to hop on any other TTT server and see the abuse of power this brings; you'll be banned for arguing with moderators/regular players decisions for the reason of #rekt.

We have a strict protocol to avoid the abuse of power. Each person has a different standard of toxic or "disliked" and depending on the moderator, some players would be removed for what I would see as undefendable reasons. All players are treated equally unless their actions or toxic behavior forces an administrator to get involved.

And that is the kind of answer I would've respected, Opii. Sinz covered it though.

I'd expect better of the mods on this server compared to other servers, I know they have good judgement.

Pardon my overly formal demeanor by the way, this happens when I'm up for anything longer than 18 hours.
