What if you are delaying in an effort to fulfill one of the innocents objectives (time out) to win the round? I get treating camping in one spot as delaying and population killing against a new traitor, but constantly moving and doing loops should be allowed, especially on a map as T sided as 67th
basically "what if i'm postponing the traitors objective to achieve my objective? Isn't the game inherently about winning?"
I agree with this one. When I originally saw the report I thought the slain player had been camping the whole time thus breaking rule 5 of the motd: No camping/delaying when majority of players are dead But then I saw the video. If the innocent is using positional advantage of a teleporter to out maneuver his opponent while constantly moving, I feel that should be legal. Yeah it's boring to wait through. But the traitor has to counter the strategy. They either had the credit to buy a harpoon which they could have spent on a teleporter and been able to move as quickly, or in any case definitely had a harpoon that if he had thrown through the wall without opening it, since he knew the inno was teleporting there constantly, could have killed the inno ezpz. Is it a rule that if you know someone is a traitor you have to face them 1 on 1?
You could make that argument, sure. But an innocent making the conscious decision to not try to kill the traitor chasing them, but to run out the clock just to win, goes against the fundamentals of TTT. The objective of innos is to kill all traitors, vice versa for the traitors. By running the clock, they avoid the purpose of the gamemode for innos. Yes, running away is a valid strategy. To do it to such an extent to run out the clock and avoid having to face the traitor shouldn't be encouraged or allowed, since, again, you want your team to win, though you're breaking the fundamentals to do so. The purpose of the clock is to prevent traitors from delaying. It's not a scapegoat for innos to abuse with teleporters and large maps to avoid fighting a traitor. Another reason it should be discouraged is nobody wants to watch someone teleport and run away like a chicken for up to 5 minutes or more. The whole server has to wait, and for what? A win screen that means nothing, because the inno ran away the whole time? I've won many rounds doing this and never felt rewarded, and people will leave when they see someone just running and nothing else for 5 whole minutes. Kinda like a new traitor that doesn't know what they're doing. For that reason, I think this kind of tactic shouldn't be allowed. Andrew was right to slay that person, imo, in his reasoning, but the current rules just don't support it.
I was always under the assumption that innocents could not really delay the round for this reason, but at the same time we would expect that they actually try to kill the traitor (especially if they know who it is) as that makes the round shorter for all the people who are stuck in spectator waiting for the next round.
How is this answered? There’s like four answers here all varying from each other with no “correct one” clearly supported by the administration for future precedents. I think noct has the best take
We have not forgotten this QnA thread. The reason we are letting it sit is because we intend to make this a topic of discussion in our next staff meeting. This will be answered once we (the staff) and come to a majority consensus on where we draw the line for delaying.
Alright we took a vote among the staff during our meeting. It came out to 22 V 2, in favor of us considering timer stalling to be delaying, if they have no legitimate reason to do so other than to "survive". So if you're just running around for no other reason than "I'm gonna win if they don't catch me!" it is going to be considered delaying. Naturally, these situations will be judged case-by-case.
