I’ve seen this question pop up in a few places and handled situationally, so I figured I’d just ask here for the official word. My question centers around a dead player messaging a living traitor to ask them to stop delaying. Is it: A) Ghosting, period. B) Allowable, but only if staff is not online to globally message urging traitors to stop delaying C) Allowable under any circumstances My impression was that it’s not ghosting as no information is given to anyone to indicate anyone’s status as an innocent/traitor, but also see the counter-argument that it potentially influences the round as the traitor may alter their course of action based on the message. Thanks!
With the rules as they are, this would be ghosting. Players who receive a message like this are highly likely to act more aggressively or hastily, thus directly impacting the round, and there's no guarantee that the dead player is being truthful about delaying or the state of the round. Staff are allowed to use the globalwarn commands to help ensure that rules are followed and that rounds aren't being unnecessarily delayed. Misuse of the commands is punished. Realistically something like this would be handled situationally and go to an admin to be forgiven, since without staff there's nothing other than the time limit to pressure an idle traitor from dragging rounds, however, we cannot condone this for hopefully obvious reasons.
