Well... I assume I was banned for rdm and leave? I accidentally killed someone with a prop. I waited 3 rounds to leave, but the mod was clearly afk. I moved to west 2 after that. Since the mod was afk and I waited an excessive amount of time after answering the report, I would like to at least serve my slay.​

Evidence of Innocence:

If I can't serve my slay, I would like to note that I have no previous bans so 28 days is most certainly the wrong duration.​

Looking back into your record, (Sorry for the misunderstanding of set time of your ban) this seems to be your first Offense of RDM & Leave.
I will unban you if you would like to add me on Steam, and we can set a slay for you.

 

I think this situation happens a bit too often. I think a discussion about intent vs reality of the server ruleset should be started. Basically, people who RDM and leave (to avoid the slay, because they're trolling, etc) are being treated the same as people who have to go, leave after a few rounds because the mod is afk, etc. So people are getting punished severely when really, in my opinion, there should simply be a slay waiting for them when they re-log.

 

Or you can just be patient and ask the staff member if you have a slay impending. Is it really that hard to ask? I've seen quite a few of our regulars ask if they have to be slain and it is easy to avoid RDM & Leave bans that way. If you have a slay, then you wait till the slay round is over. If not, then you're free to go and you won't be banned for RDM & Leave.

 

It is when the moderator isn't at his computer. Mod is afk > player is stuck on the server at the mercy of whenever mod finishes making dinner. Player gets bored of waiting /has to go > 5 day ban.

 

When staff members are afk? Yes. When staff members are "overworked" and not responding to you 3+ rounds in a row? Yes. It happens. Not often, but it does.

If we were to add a simple "I believe that I need a slay" button into the RDM popup, I think that that would remove quite a bit of guess work with RDM and leave bans, especially with no staff on. When someone screws up and needs someone to slay them, and that staff member isn't available, it can turn into a clusterfuck trying to avoid a ban. Addition of this button would result in less RDM bans, as intent would be easier to distinguish. It would also facilitate faster reporting, as the mod could jump through reports faster. We could use this button to issue slays after someone has left (after a reasonable time, not 1 round, might as well ban them at that point) or when staff isn't on. Less bans = happier server.

I'll take the points, but this needed to be said imo.

 

Or we could make it so if the staff member takes 3 rounds to get to a report and the reported player didn't leave immediately then it shouldn't be considered RDM & Leave.

 

You know he does have a point. People do have lives to tend to and if the staff member takes 3 rounds to get to a report then it shouldn't be the fault of the player if he or she wants to leave because it's been 3 rounds and he or she is bored.

 

Either way, I think this topic warrants a real discussion, maybe a GD thread or something? Just so that we aren't posting pages and pages on a ban appeal.
