I pmed a traitor buddy and told him to buy a radar while I was dead because he couldnt find the last innocent. I told the mod, rice, I did this he said that was ghosting and banned me for a month. I didnt reveal any information that he wouldnt have known while he was alive and did not tell him where the last innocent was. I dont see how thats ghosting if I just tell him to buy something that would help him find the innocent. He never even responded to me so he could have already had a radar and I just didnt know. Ghosting is defined as: Using third party chat to inform player of in-game events they are not yet aware of and I didnt do that.​

@Based God Allah , as I've already explained in game and as you will see in this screenshot, this is still considered ghosting.

The situation: @NickHouston and an innocent were the only ones alive. There was 1 MIA (missing in action), and the only innocent was camping. I even warned them in chat to stop. You then declared in chat that you had message NickHouston to buy a radar. I then asked both you and Nick if you had just told him to buy a radar and you both responded in the affirmative. To prove my point further, Nick was asking in chat who else was alive and he was clearly having a hard time finding players. Because you told him to buy a radar, he then did so and the round ended much sooner then it should have.

What do you have to say about this?

Nick was a traitor so he could see who was missing in action. And if I was alive and told him to buy a radar, that would be fine. And what very loosely falls into the definition of ghosting. I simply told him to buy a radar. I didn't tell him where it the inno was, I merely told him to buy something that would help find the innocent. This seems like indirectly ghosting because I am not telling him directly where the person is, I am just assisting him to find him.I don't feel the definition of ghosting provided in the rules is specific and broad enough to ban me for it. After all, he could have bought a radar without my pm and I did not know I was ghosting and was not warned for it.

 

The issue was not that he know who was missing in action or not. The issue is he did not know where the location of the last innocent was. When he knew to buy the radar, he could locate where the last innocent was. I've already messaged @NickHouston to respond with his side, so please be patient.

 

I can confirm that Based PMed me to buy a radar but I don't think he deserves a month ban.

It's true, he did tell me something I forgot all about while he was dead and I alive. But he did it for a good reason. The inno was delaying for what seemed like a very long time (it was probably only a few minutes).

At most, Based should have a 1 week ban as his ghosting only reminded me of the tools at my disposal and didn't really give me access to information I shouldn't have had.

This is only my opinion and I understand the need for protocol, so whatever the admins decide the punishment should be is up to them. I just hope you can go a bit easier on him than a 1 month ban.

 

I agree that is what he was trying to do, but this was still a case of ghosting. I already warned the innocent to stop camping, so there was really no need for him to do that.

@Based God Allah , do you have any further comments? The ban will stay, but I am willing to reduce this as what you did was still a punishable offense.

 

I feel the definition of ghosting should be broadened to include the sort of thing I did on the rules. While I can see how this qualifies as ghosting now, when I made the pm, it never struck my mind that this could be ghosting because I was merely trying to speed up the game. It would be nice if my ban was shortened if possible because what I did was a very minor offense. At the moment, ghosting only really struck out to me as revealing information about living players directly in game. What I did was very indirect and many players could easily do it without associating it to ghosting. In fact, if I never said in the chat that I pmed him, it probably would never have been noticed. Also the fact that I announced in chat what I did is a clear indication I didn't know what I was doing was wrong.

 

Ignorance to the rules does not excuse you from it. Though, I do understand where you're coming from, I'll reduce the ban to half of the original ban (2 weeks).
