Is the act of attacking a player because of their age considered harassment also why isnt it on the rules if it is a form of harassment because it verbally damages players who are younger.
To answer your question, yes it is harassment. The reason that age discrimination isn't specifically listed is because harassment is already there. There's no reason to list something that's specific when it is already included in the rules in a general aspect.
it definitely should be enforced more strictly...harrassment is one thing but bullying is another. Its worse and can damage someone. Not only that but bullying keeps people from returning while harrassment just annoys slightly to the point someone wants to see that player punished
Players shouldn't be attacked based on age, but maturity is another thing. I think most of the discriminations on age happen because younger people tend to be less mature in ways that make them come off as annoying. Of course there are plenty of young people in the STTT community who show more maturity then some of us older guys, and people that harass them are simply complete assholes. That being said, it's still not really okay to harass based on maturity, and I find myself making that mistake often.
ive never really seen it really be anything other than voice related. Like today on terrortrain players were bullying a younger player and he was really upset sayin it happens even worse on another sttt server. Everyone kept sayin its bc he wont shut up yet the guy didnt talk nearly as much as everyone not even close, it was his voice. In gaming players come accustom to making fun of young folk bc it makes them feel cool and older. its more frequent in games like CoD than here but it certainly happens to every young player ive ever seen. This is why mute buttons exist. it really should be enforced more than typical harassment
If I see someone making fun of someone else for "being a 12 year old kid" You can bet your points I'll be dealing with that.
i appreciate you doin that, it just doesnt seem to be that big of an issue on other staff's radars as far from what ive seen. it typically gets like so many warnings as if its not enough to follow up on. I just know age related bullying is more than harrassment as it keeps ppl from returning or using a mic and enjoying their experience altogether
Harassment is harassment regardless of the reason. Bashing someone on their age is harassment. Other reasons of harrasment aren't listed on the !motd. Attacking a player and verbally harrasing them is harrasment. There is no "don't harass people based on their age" and don't harass people based on their race." Because harrasment in general is not allowed.
Considering most of the playerbase is quite young (below 20) it can be quite a problem, however I have found that a lot of younger players will act very poorly without knowing it, or as is the case most of the time on purpose. Some staff might have gotten jaded over time because of this. Although I don't personally see actual harassment of younger players all that often.
