Every single time I play Jondome, someone gets slain for RDM because of the sword. I'm not joking. People don't know that if you're the last one to hold it/shoot it, all deaths by it there after are your fault. This is just a hidden rule. Honestly, it needs to be added to the extended rules. If it was earlier I can think of multiple cases of RDM that never would have happened.
So you think that causing the death of another player that has not committed a traitorous act should be added as a rule? That is already a rule. I thought maybe you wanted to add that carrying it should be considered a traitorous act, but that wasn't the case. Bottom line: Randomly damaging/ killing other players by any means is RDM. It's not a hidden rule. It's in the main MOTD.
As Mango says, It is already a rule. And It is in the Map specific rules in the Extended rules Source: http://www.seriousgmod.com/threads/a-guide-to-sttt-extended-rules-info-tips-tricks.12605/ Also it is fairly obvious if a player is holding/placing the enchanted the sword anywhere and that weapon caused death/damage then it would be RDM. Seeing as it is a weapon more importantly a T weapon that causes death, and with a player moving it and effecting where it is, would not have killed another player otherwise. Thank you for the inquiry. If you have any questions about this please ask
@MangoTango "So you think that causing the death of another player that has not committed a traitorous act should be added as a rule? That is already a rule." ^Yeah, but that's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying that a clarification to people who are unable to understand that dropping the diamond sword It isn't self-explanatory for the people to know it will cause them to commit RDM if they die with the sword there, and then an innocent walks on it, or they move it out of harms way and an innocent walks on it. I can say this because I accidentally committed mass RDM with it, even though I had read through all the rules of the server and the extended rules. I think it happens more often than not that the sword is just an unknown variable of jondome to newcomers, and the concept of it being the fault of the last person who touched it should be written IN WRITING, in an official public post somewhere for people to see if they didn't know the rule. I mean this is for the 8-year olds who are playing here people. You cant just assume that they're an ex-staff member who knows the rules, or a server regular, or have even ever played TTT before. The fact still stands that something needs to happen because honestly, a vote for Jondome makes me sick thinking of all the RDM-filled games that are going to happen unless someone hides the diamond or stick. It makes total sense to add that one little sentence as a disclaimer for people who don't understand why they got a slay to the official Jondome map-specific extended rules. Even if you think it's already explained, as a player with 100 hours on this server in the first two weeks of playing, I can tell you that so much confusion goes down because of that diamond sword. I honestly don't understand why I'm the first person to point this out. Also @Falcor "Seeing as it is a weapon, more importantly a T weapon that causes death" If it's a T-weapon then why isn't it KOSable to build it in the first place? That's a different question, but still one just as valid.
It's traitorous to carry it. Saying it's traitorous to build it isn't possible because it doesn't have the potential to kill someone while it's being crafted. It has the potential to kill someone as a full sword and there is no way to know if it is charged or not without watching it get crafted. Putting a rule in the extended rules explaining that doing something that causes the death of an innocent is there and we like to trim the fat. Keep redundant things out of there rules. People don't read the extended rules anyway and don't know what rdm is as defined by our server. Those rules are basically there for super ivolved people and as a foundation of defense for staff members that are trying to explain the rules. Tell me the truth. Did you read the extended rules before your mass rdm ban or did you learn that it wasn't in the extended rules after the fact? I bet it's the latter of the two.
You wanna know something silly? It was the former. I read the extended rules the day I bought vip. Who would have? It's only logical to read it! I even bet I have proof of it or something. Regardless of the good points you've made, I still feel like it would help keep accidental rdm out of vanilla. I mean, I'd rather know that it was mass RDM before i did it, and I just kinda feel like others feel the same way. And, you won't add a clarification for something, even though there is a clarifications section of the rules, and there are tidbits of clarifications all around the rules themselves. So I'm really not seeing any argument against this other than that the extended rules arent going to be read by most. I'm the kind of guy that reads the terms and conditions.
And really, this post was being made to try to help people not be in the situation that I see them get into every day. I'm just trying to be helpful... I'll stop if it's such a bad idea.
