it would be fun if there was a betting system that when that last 2 people on wars were left it froze the game for 10 seconds and allowed people to bet on which player would win
I think freezing the game in progress would be a huge hindrance in itself. But I do think it would be neat to allow betting at some point. Maybe once 4 people or so are left.
i thought about freezing the game and i think it would just cause problems but i like your idea on the last 4 people you can start betting the only problem with it is how you bet say if i bet 100 points and someone else bets 1000 how to you distribute the points you cant do it evenly
Simple. You only allow betting in denominations to prevent the math from getting weird trailing zeroes. So, person 1 has 2050 bet on him. Person 2 has 2000, and person 3 has 300 bet on him. Use the following formula(just percent change!): (total pool - winning pool) / winning pool * 100 = profile So if person 1 won... (4350 - 2050) / 2050 * 100 = 112.1951219512195% But you can't have all those trailing numbers so let's round it to the nearest hundred. 112.20 So if bet 1 was 1050, bet 2 was 600 and bet 3 was 400: bet amount * percent profit(with 100% added) = winnings 1050 * 2.1220 = 2228 (rounded to nearest whole number) 600 * 2.1220 = 1273 400 * 2.1220 = 849 Add all those numbers together and you get.. 4350! Our original pool value!
Although the problem is still how do you allow betting without interrupting gameplay. Maybe at 6 players betting opens up and stays open until 3 players are left. And to add fairness for this window, you could chose both a primary and a secondary. So if the person you bet on dies your bet gets moved to the secondary. And once there are only three players left the bets all lock in(no primaries move to secondaries). Or you just get refunded. Or you just not. Another thought would be to give the winner a cut. Say, if the profit margin for the betting is over 50% profit then the player who won get's a 5% cut of each better's cut. That way they get more then just 200 points for winning (who would want to win when you could bet?).
I think this is how it should work... When there are 6 players left alive (thats when the action slows down a bit and it gets more tactical) you get to bet on one player. All of the bets go to a main pot. Lets say that 9 players bet and all of them bet 1000 to one of the players alive. They all go to the same pot. If one player 1 bets 100 and player 2 bets 900 to Eduardo (for example) and Eduardo won then player one would get 10% of all the bets, even placed to other players, while player 2 gets 90%. Thats to make it fair so that someone who bet alot wont lose money because someone else bet a little amount. Maybe before we do all the dividing between players we give 20% of the earnings to the actual player that won. These are just very messy rough ideas.
eduardopy that seems a little weird.. As fair as you'd get is distributing winnings where winnings are earned. It's a choice to gamble in the first palce. And shadowdragoon, with 35 people about to start a round would you really want to bet that early? That doesn't seem to attractive and you have a significantly higher chance of loss.
Gambling wouldn't be much fun if you win easily. There is just as much of a guarantee of your guy winning with 35 others at the start of the round as there is with 5 others. Granted the odds are different, but no one person is guaranteed to always win.
Shadow just contradicted himself so much... On topic, Sounds like a really cool idea but need to find a way to make it slow down for bets.
How is it a contradiction? The person you bet on can die at any point in time during the match or not at all; the odds of survival change everytime someone dies. What you are betting on is if the person will be the last man standing and no matter how many people play; there can only be one "last man standing" and that one person you bet on is not always going to be the last man standing. Its like betting on horses. You can bet on the same horse all you want, but it is not guaranteed to win. I have seen some people win harpoon wars and other times they are the first to die. As for stopping the game mid round to do bets, that in and of itself would be hard to do. You could try having a "live count" to show how many are still alive and then having everyone stop once it hits a certain number and then finish up once a certain timeframe has passed to allow for the bets. You would more than likely have to either find a mod that allows you to freeze everyone or write the code for a feature that allows you to do something like that. One other possible way it could be done is to allow people to make bets during either the preround like I had suggested or bet during the round once they die (if they die).
