I suggest using overwolf It's the best recording program you'l see why when you start using it. Dont use other recording devices. Overwolf is reliable. And can easily record 24 Hours for only 100Gb even less I use daily 30 gb for my entire day recording.
If you'd like to make a guide for it, please do. Until then, I'm sticking with OBS because it's just as reliable and has small file sizes as well. Not to be conceited, but there's a reason why famous streamers use OBS and not overwolf. Just my opinion.
@mtndewbunney Of course there is lag, it's an extra process on the CPU. Very little lag compared to other recorders though.
I don't lag at all, but it depends on how high-end or low-end you PC/laptop is. Like @ThatBox said, it has very minimal lag compared to other records (fraps, etc.)
yoyo timmonz, so every time i set it to record my resolution it only records half the screen? And it wont even let me record using "Monitor 1" Help pls <3
@Carned Do you set it to record the monitor or game capture? (I'm assuming you're using multiple monitors) If you're using multiple monitors, I believe you must create a global - monitor capture source. After you make a global source, you can add as many monitor capture sources in the normal source box. Here's a disadvantage to video recording, most of us that are using quite a old model, they have limited memory on their computer, by video recording. it will cause the computer to lag and sometime even crash. I would still suggest recording a game demo, then submit a file thru external file sharing website and let the staff handle the situation. Advantage of demo -High Quality -Exact POV of recorder. -File size is low, less lag Disadvantage of demo -Hard to transfer to a actual video file (you need lots of RAM to process).
That's the beauty of OBS in my opinion. It doesn't lag NEARLY as much as others do, and you can tweak it to find the optimal setting to find where you may have the highest quality that you can get without lagging. Even if it's not top-notch quality at this point, you will still be have SOMETHING to use incase hits the fan.
@NeverEnding then i'd suggest recording a demo and then using OBS to record the significant parts of the demo.
I've never used Overwolf, but the thing about video in general is other than maybe the encoding type (avi vs mpeg2) the factors of file sizes are resolution (480p vs 1080p), bitrate (including audio), and fps. I'm curious about these claims of yours though.
