So ive been (again) wondering something recently, so when admins are deciding wether to make someone a mod or mods are deciding to +1 a mod application does the persons vulgarity (swearing) go threw your head as a saetback in there personality. Ex. if theres a mic spammer a vulgar person would say "this bitch needs to shut the fuck up" and a non fulger person would say "STOP", please keep in mind vulgar isnt they same as getting mad easily.
We expect our moderators to be as professional as possible and appear as calm as possible. Excessive cursing when dealing with other players does not accomplish either of those in my eyes.
We expect you to draw fine lines between work and play. Cursing at the work place is un-acceptable here and in real-life(unless you work as a plumber, construction worker, stripper, etc.) I personally enjoy exercising my vernacular capabilities when off-duty. Switching between a worker ant and a fire ant is easy for me. I place the same expectations on my Moderators when I train and care for them because they've chosen to volunteer their time to help keep the servers clean, and a clean mouth will definitely help them do that(Physically and verbally. Hygiene is a turn on!) We are a pretty lax server in terms of freedom of speech. We just like to avoid any misunderstandings that could be deemed as harassment. Especially when it comes to a Staff member.
I know I am not an admin, but if someone is jokingly raging at someone its not bad, but if someone lights someone up and wont stop, or repeatedly swears at a collegue, or a player, or a teacher, or mentor in real life it doesent look too professional.
yah even if your not an admin i still want your opinion, thanks for all the feedback guys, whats lax?
I generally take no offense to vulgarity. HOWEVER, there are a few conditions on where I do take action against it and are as follows 1. Racial Slurs - These are a HUGE no-no and pretty much self-explanatory. 2. Specifically using vulgarities to put someone down - I can understand some that I would say like "You Dense Motherfucker!" as a joke (look it up, it's a meme). However, some that are supposed to put people down such as "You fucking faggot, go kill yourself no one loves you" etc. etc. Those make me take action. 3. Sexually Offensive Terms - These are a very big no-no, just like racial slurs. Just refrain from using them. This is just my opinion, but any other mods/admins can put their opinion in on how they deal with vulgarities.
This is my angle: You're playing around in a round, one of your friends is like "oh hey, do you have time for our lord savior Jesus Christ?" You respond "No Fuck off I know you're gonna harpoon me" That's perfectly fine, no one's gonna frown on you for doing that. You kill someone, they start claiming you RDMed them/calling for you to slay yourself. You respond "fuck off that wasn't RDM bitch". This is not okay.
