A few years ago, I traveled with Engineers without Borders to Pacto/Chargualoma, Ecuador for a irrigation project. Here are some pictures! I figured it was because I was the first Spanish-speaking Asian they've met IRL The 'equator' passes through and gets its name from Ecuador. 'El Mitad del Mundo', which translates to 'Middle of the World' is in Quito, Ecuador. They have a popular tourist attraction there that gives you a souvenir if you can balance an egg on the equator!
