So I’m sure we’ve all heard that Fallout 4 is the worst Fallout game ever made. Arguably maybe Fallout 76, but I don’t even consider it an actual franchised game. I’m curious what you’re opinions on this may be. Of course I know Fallout: New Vegas is probably top tier Fallout, but what about Fallout 3?

All opinions welcome! Even if you hate or love Bethesda.

How can you even question that 76 is worse than 4. Four was decent. 76 is a fucking shit show

Its less questioning its awfulness and more I don’t even respect it as a Fallout game at all in the first place. So it’s not even a contender in my books.

Tbh i liked fallout 3 more than new vegas. While i love new vegas, 3 just feels so.. bleak. the dlc is awesome, story is pretty great, etc.
and you have liam neeson in most of it

Fallout 3 is a great game and I feel like the very basis for how to compare FPS Fallout games. It had a cool story, expansive world, and great character dialogue.

New Vegas expanded on all the mechanics that players loved from 3. There is more role-playing possibilities, characters, factions. It's great.

4, just. It was decent IMO. They streamlined the gun mechanics to make them more smooth and open to a wider audience of players, but they sacrificed a lot of the cool immersion elements like having to repair weapons. I think the bases mechanic was a huge bonus. I loved it so much. But the biggest disappointment that IMO sets 4 behind is the simplification of character dialogue. They literally took what made the world interesting and simplified it to 4 dialogue options. However, this feels the trend with Bethesda in general sadly. They didn't make New Vegas with it's great dialogue. They're the same company that took the immersive dialogue of Morrorwind and chipped it down enough to what we had in Skyrim.

    7six is, yeah. Nough said.

cool gameplay for the time, awful dialogue and story telling.

fallout 2 is a turn based RPG with a great story and immersive dialogue, its one of my favourite games.

bethesda has a childlike understanding of immersive world building and realistic dialogue, i spit on these cockroaches.
heres a cool encounter from fallout 2

I'm a ride or die Fallout fan. Played all the games past Fallout 3.

Yes, Fallout 3 is good. It's one of my favorite games from my childhood, and though it has a nostalgia factor, it's still good from the outsider pov.
The real trick is getting it to work good/smoothly in 2020. Bethesda basically said "fuck it" and never worked on adapting it to Windows 10+ or new-gen works.
I have got it working, and I played the shit out of it during quarantine. So if you want tips on how I run it smoothly, feel free to DM me. I'll happily get it working for you.

    IMO my ranking:
    - Fallout 4
    - Fallout 3
    - Fallout New Vegas
    - Fallout 76

Fallout 4 is 100% the best game in the franchise right now. It's updated to the current gen of graphics, balls-deep in the amounts of quests and side-quests, and it's the easiest to mod.
Alot of my fallout friends crucify me for not enjoying New Vegas, but if I wanted an empty wasteland, i'd go for the bleaker more washed out Fallout 3. I like DC better than Nevada anyway.

How you say you're ride or die yet rate 4 better than 3 or NV

I preferred 3 when I was younger, but NV would be my go-to now if I picked one - although the dlc in 3 was pretty neat

Well since Fallout 3 is semi an ass to get working, and Fallout New Vegas is pretty boring..
Fallout 4 is simply the best-looking, easiest to mod, pack full with quests and ways to play.
In general, it's the most consumer friendly. It doesn't rely on nostalgia and it still looks super fresh.
