Your browser does not support the video tag. Not sure how I really feel on the matter, to be quite honest. On one note anyone who has been staff is open to seeing/knowing certain intel/knowledge about the staff-only areas of the forums, the adminstats of any player, and are free to discuss things privately with other staff or higher staff. Admins and Higher, are much more at risk for anything going public, if they choose to discuss something among other Admins, that should be fine. But when staff decide to step down or get demoted, it's kind of awkward cause they still have all of this intel/ knowledge from once they were originally the staff member. It seems fair to punish them for certain information getting out, but it almost seems like we're some kind of Government Agency keeping everything Confidential inside of an imaginary vault. It makes sense, but then it doesn't. If something goes public and makes the Owner(s) look bad is that entirely the leakers fault? Why should someone get in trouble for publicly displaying actions carried out by the highest role model of the community? Something goes public that wasn't supposed to and then a majority of the community knows of the information, you can't punish everyone that has swallowed in the information... but you opt to punish the person who leaked it publicly which is fair, but then doesn't make too much sense at the same time. I wouldn't doubt there is a lot of corrupt stuff that goes on behind closed doors here, probably even some illegal. And at the same time probably an enormous amount of information that has been leaked to a select few people, that those individuals haven't been caught with yet. So it's all kinda left in a thick fog in my head with what should really be done when these matters occur, I think there should be a Community Council, held by not only staff but the most devoted and original members of this community who can voice their honest opinions over what should be done with future matters of the community. Not that whatever they agree will happen but just to shed some light on how some of us feel with what ends up happening either way.
That sounds like Commie bullshit, boy. Kidding aside, I respectfully disagree wholeheartedly. For me, the answer is simple. The best communities I've been a part of were led by Owners that delegated what they wanted to their second in command, who delegated to the next, and so on. Anything they say goes, no matter what. It's a simple feudalistic hierarchy. What the boss says goes. If Highwon wants something done, it's done. If he doesn't want information leaking, no matter how insignificant it seems to you or the community, then what he says goes. Not sure if this makes total sense, but it seems pretty easy to me. The big man told his staff not to do something, they did it, they got consequences. ezpz
I completely agree. But I guess maybe I'm thinking too deep, cause I'm confused, but I guess it doesn't matter all that much what the confides and boundaries are for it to be punishable, but I guess anything that only staff have access to is considered punishable if it goes public.
"the contents of a man's letters are more valuable than the contents of his purse" shit quote i find it petty that people would leak info on a gmod community that's my opinion but does it make sense in this kind of size in a community? yes. The whole point of staff information is to stay within its set boundaries. the cat eventually gets out of the bag known if it has or not but in certain cases where it's already kind of out there because of the evidence it should become public either it is staff knowledge or it isn't. back when the deathscene was implemented, it was only staff knowledge. We would use (to make a verdict without letting the info get out) the information IF the players were not being truthful about certain situations such as GBA or if a player pulled out a T weapon. Eventually, the cat got out of the bag and the players knew about it. Today, I do not see a single person that was punished for sharing information about the deathscene. This kind of topic is pretty tricky. In the end, it's up to the owner weather to allow some information to get out there, or if some should remain private.
It's kinda like how you think it is, but it doesn't capture steam stuff/overlay/etc. (unless you're using older iterations or code it that way).
Nah if it was games like unturned that use the battleeye cheat detector wouldnt be allowed to screengrab. Just as long as it doesnt capture steam or discord overlay
As far as i know, the screengrab command is only able to pull a picture of your gmod window. It isnt able to pull anything outside of the window, except for overlays ofc bc they are technically on your window. Thats why if i were to be screencapped in windowed mode, it wouldnt pick up the outside portions of my screen, where i could have a browser open or whatnot. Facepunch would remove the convar or variable whatever it is if this were the case, since it would be a serious violation of privacy.
@.shirt however if you have steam overlay open, and the screengrab command is set to also include steam overlay, then they will see any information you have currently open in the overlay. So basically just dont use steam to do your taxes
I come back to check in and find Highwon banning all his friends again smh. Dude, this ain't it. You need those guys. Helix ran this place when you didn't. Opal made it fun and everything ran smoothly because of him. You're like Daenarys lmao. @Highwon you keep shooting your own foot. If anyone deserves a second chance, it's your two close friends who have done nothing but give to this community - even while you were off doing whatever it was you were doing for like 2 years. And don't say it's the fault of these other people. It's yours. You are the one who did this. You are the one who banned them. You are the one who let whoever wanted to hurt this community win. You're the owner. All you had to do was say, "Not this time. No. Screw you guys for trying to hurt them and us." Congratulations, Highwon. I hope you enjoy your continuing and ever-growing solitude high up on your soapbox. Black and white decisions are so stupid when it's just a server on a game from almost 20 years ago lmao. You're really gonna end two great friendships over that? You need to check your priorities. Give them a second chance. This community has always meant a lot to those guys. For real, man. This ain't it. Anyone that agrees with this ruling...y'all really forget who your friends are, too. Opal and Helix are good people. You all know that. They treated everybody with respect and kindness. You all should be more grateful for them and less quick to condemn and ostracize.
On this note. They're banned and I'm not. Just how hilarious is that? This is apparently the ideal state for this server to him. But also let's just remember that a certain date during a certain time ages ago makes friends dispensable (in this place) in order to trade out fun and friendships for robotic, submissive, quiet, 'quality' staff. Sips big brain juice
i dont think u have any friends, so how do you know the feeling of getting stabbed by them maybe they got stabbed by highwon, u dont know the full story
