How Did I Do? (PC Build)

Alright so this was my first ever build that I did absolutely by myself, worked hard for this case and everything else, and just spent like 4 hours putting it together.

Here is a before picture, of the first time it was built, brand new parts, had it done at a friends shop, he did a bad job at the cable management as you can see..

After that it got worse, before I built this new one and finished it like 20 minutes ago, it had the radiator on the OUTSIDE... I couldn't put it back on the inside, my old case was not meant for this type of setup, and it was all ghetto rigged, and cable management was crap.

But then, I present the new version that I am quite happy about.

So what do you think for a first build? Any criticism is allowed (I mean it is the internet, who gives a shit even if I say there isn't any allowed)

    Here is the specs list if anyone wanted to know;
    Motherboard: z270m mortar
    CPU: I5-7600k
GPU: R9 280x Black Double Dissipation Edition
    RAM: Ripjaw Vs 16gb 2400mhz
    Case: Corsair Carbide Series 270R
Cooler: H100i v2 (Almost push pulled it but just left it like it is)
    PSU: 750W Gold EVGA
Not a bad system, definitely held back with the graphics card.

Wiring looks nice and neat for the most part. Only thing I would comment on is actually the CPU, the i5's are something you regret if you wanna play any high cpu games.

I'd also argue that the water cooling is a bit extreme for that cpu.

I will be overclocking a lot with this new power supply. I got the actual build a while ago, and upgrading isn't really an option right now sadly with the market not being the greatest.

But, it seems to do good on most games at stock speed, gonna mess with the overclocking a bit and see what can be done.

H100i might seem overkill, but can help in most future upgrades

better cable management than me though ;) not as good spec-wise but that's fine

and you actually went with the K-version which is good

I tried the automatic overclocking on the pc I bought and thank god it had a warranty because I fried the motherboard and the cpu and I didnt have my computer for almost a full month. #neverbuildalwaysbuy

Wait, Toest, did you just say that since you destroyed the computer you bought, that is why you should always buy instead of build? You want to buy more of the cheap product that breaks easily? The one that left you without a computer for a full month? :ROFLMAO:

Looks good for your first build. mine was quite similar but I had an air cooler instead of the H100i. Anyways it overall looks good, but personally because I like the least amount of cables of visible, I would take the cables that are connected to the bottom of the motherboard, the power, audio, reset, etc. and route them through the bottom holes of your case next the the Power Supply, versus running it through the side. Just a personal thing. Also why do you have like 5 fans in the PC? I say it's a little overkill, but it won't do any harm. Just be careful of the dust.

TL;DR - Looks good, just tidy up those bottom cables if you want to.

Honestly overclocking doesn't do all that much gaming wise, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Unless you are using heavy CPU intensive applications like video editors and such~

    This is also very true~

So true. The graphics card ruins the whole system. Most newer GPU-heavy games require me to have the settings around medium unless they are like <2017

I mean the card was good in it's age, it looks like a nice card, but it's slowly starting to not be enough.
Yeah, I have some friends that use me as an editor that like to have their stuff rendered at 4k or some shit even though most people don't view youtube at 4k quality.

Wow. Yeah auto overclocking is not exactly the best to do.. If I up it to an OC of 4.8, if I recall, if I leave the voltage on Auto it puts it up to like 1.5 and I was just like "What in the fucking fuck?" which is why you find your wall, father overclocks the same way, you increase the clock until it becomes unstable, increase voltage a bit, and repeat until you reach like 1.35-1.4 volts or a decent overclock

The second attempt on your build is really nice, I like the simplicity of it. As everyone was saying about yeah the H100i might be overkill but never really hurts to have a really nice cooler, especially if you're planning to OC or just live in a hot af area like I do. CPU is fine imo, but you could eventually upgrade with something better and not break your wallet. Overall Good stuff my dude

The big shame is my only main upgrade path right now is the 7700k, which isn't horrible but soon enough it will be done for. Intel is being dicks and saying that the z270 boards aren't compatible even though the motherboard manufactures have said themselves if I recall that they can release a bios update that WILL allow 8th gen processors to work on z270 boards perfectly fine. But ya know.. Just gotta make that money..

Plus I live in Arizona, there is no such thing as cold.

I would upgrade your graphics card before your processor. Jumping from a 7600k to a 7700k will give you marginal gains in FPS.

Also, 7700k runs hot as shit, or at least mine did. If you do still plan to upgrade it it’s good that you bought the H100i.

    Clean build overall though.
