Current State of SGM

I'm just wonderin' what's goin' on in this place. All servers seem to be completely void of staff members like 80% of the time I'm on. When they are on, shit is generally super lax on their end...

Like I'll RDM the detective or smthn, ask for a slay, and get no response, or innos will be going around throwing incendiaries and shit for no reason, damaging myself and others, then reporting me for killing them for it, but no effort is made from the staffs side to slay the inno for RDM, since they're the reporter, and not the reported, even though the RDM is obvious, and would be even more obvious without some simple investigation. These are just a couple examples, but things that happen a lot, and in a lot of other forms constantly. I'm just curious if this is how things are supposed to be at the moment?? Like is the staff team just super relaxed now? I understand that mods can now use discretion if the RDM'd party doesn't want the person slain; however, we're talking like half the job of what being staff used to be just kinda getting ignored? Unless that job description has changed and staff just like ignore anything that isn't in an actual report in which the victim is specifically reporting the guilty party... then like y'all gotta have some talks within the staff team cus unless you purposely being super chill then you doin' an awful job, and that's just when you're like even staffing the servers which, like I said, seems to be virtually never.

RDM going unpunished and staff being absent generally aside, I've personally just been noticing like an insane amount of toxicity in the forms of racism, homophobia, or pretty much just any form of harassment, going on for multiple rounds while staff are there and having nothing done about it cause, i'm assuming, nobody is like specifically bringing it to the staff members attention, but yall got ears. Plenty of us been staff and it's not that hard to like hear people using the N word ever like 30 seconds, or homophobic slurs, or telling some like young ass kid to kill themselves and like do smthn about it, and I mean like RDM and shit aside, if this is done intentionally by the community where we just let that shit slide unless someone has to like specifically remind the staff that racism, homophobia, and other forms of harassment and toxicity are toxic and harassment, then like yall fucked and this "chill" environment is just a means of promoting the fucked shit that yall used to make more of an effort about.

Like this isn't a callout to any staff members in specific, this is just a statement on my end, as a player, of the state of the SGM staff team as a whole right now. Like the whole damn "1/11" (or w/e i wasn't around) staff team was fucking relaxed as fuck and still did a way better job then this.

I'm just saying my experience been pretty shitty relative to the in-game community I've known all these years.

 

If activity like that isn't being addressed in server, please file a report when it happens. That's not acceptable.

 

I don't think that's the solution here. As I've stated, this isn't a callout post to specific staff members, this is what I've seen from the staff team as a whole since I've been playing SGM again recently. I mean I could go ahead and spend my time gathering evidence and making a lot of reports against staff on here, but what I'm saying is that the easier, and better solution here is for the staff team to address itself and remind itself of its priorities.

 

Ah, okay, I mean- yeah. That's happening right now. There's been a few posts about it regarding the restructuring of the staff team we're having atm.

I gotta agree with Drunk right now, some of the staff are either too lax or have a stick up there ass, there are the ones in between (mainly in higher rankings). Looking at myself as a recent resigned mod, I was lax on some things but certain things I wasn't. RDM me? Nah its fine i dont care. Racial slurs is one thing I cant stand for. Wanna harass the hell out of me? I wont care nor warn you. Start hitting someone else with it and they report it, expect a damn warning. Either some people have no chill or are too chill. I love all you on the staff team but hopefully what Helix is talking about gets to some of yall, I love this place too damn much to see it fall.

 

I'm not one to really like or care for these threads, but I have noticed what Drunk Dog is pointing out. As of late laziness has sort of taken over not only my mind but other staff member's minds. I actually have called myself out on this because I am constantly missing pieces of harassment because my attention is on the forums most of the time while I am staffing. Going forward i'm going to address the claims you make and seriously take them to heart and try to stay tabbed into gmod as much as I can possibly be tabbed into gmod. It isn't really intentional, I still very much want the server to be free from all kinds of nonsense that you bring up. I don't allow that kind of bullshit and I have never allowed it. The problem is that I am so distracted by other things that I can't simply stare at my screen for so long. For that I apologize.

So I just kind of wanted to make it clear from my perspective that this is in no way intentional and helix's point about things changing right now is definitely true. Many of our better staff members have resigned lately and some of the newer mods have to pickup the slack. Now, these new moderators are still learning and so the staff team is sort of in a fragile and weak state. With summer coming up i'm preoccupied almost always with other things that I need to focus on. While not a permanent state, it is a state I will eventually have to come out of if I plan on sticking around for very long. I was actually apart of the 1/11 staff team and I can honestly say that not much has really changed since then, in fact many of those staff members were way more relaxed and less mechanical than the moderators we've had recently or even in the past few months. I'm confident that we as a staff team will recover from any blow that was given to us.

Understand that we have not become more lax, in fact . We have actually become much harsher in our punishments, and recently a shift in style has caused us administrators to be way more demanding of our moderators. We are trying to fix this issue of the staff team appearing as someone's punching bag when we are not. It sort of stems from this idea that we are suppose to be SJW's, when we aren't. We are here to enforce the rules and chill out. We are doing one of those, but not the other. This is why we've got to fix this now before it goes any further. You made a lot of good points Drunk Dog, and honestly I hope that we can address every single one of those points.

 

The problem I have, and why I don't hop on to the servers anymore is just the lack of updating content and keeping things fresh and enjoyable for the player base. Things on TTT just seem outdated to me, and that's no fun. I'd only hop on for the reason of certain people being online to have some fun with. Other than that there's nothing to instigate me to connect to a server for. More events would be nice, and rotating things quite frequently like maps, and cosmetic things. I cannot speak up on the staff situation, as I am far behind from understanding the situation.

 

I've ran into a lot of situations of staff leaving when I have a report waiting their attention. I'm not saying that you can't leave because you have stuff to do or important situations come up, I know how it is, but it happens way too often for me to think that it isn't a commonplace practice

 

Lol I'd slap the shit out of someone if they bugged me about staying on the server to answer their report, if I had to leave.
