POTATO

so, potato is a regular serious TTT player, and ive noticed he wont stop doing prop damage to everyone. ive killed him on multiple occasions for prop damaging me, and he reports me for it almost every time. i was wondering if if theres anything that can be done about him...?

 

Is there a staff member online during the time of this? If so, the staff members can take care of it.

 

there usually is, but they dont really do anything about it.

 

I get reports about it and such but never see it and it almost never shows up in the logs as him doing it. So then I spec him but low and behold as soon as I do the reports stop coming in.

 

Ugh, potato propkills ALL the time, it's actually getting really annoying in that I hope the next time an admin catches him, he gets a last warning before a perma. He's been doing this for MONTHS, and yet gets nothing but slaps on the wrist for ruining the TTT experience for a bunch of people.

 

Is this the guy with the wierd O's with the line through them? I've actually not had a problem with him back when he was on regularly, though I haven't really seen him on the last two weeks or so. However, if he really is doing prop damage as an inno to other innos, we'll just need to keep a close eye on him when we're on (since a lot of the thrown prop dmg doesn't show up on logs) and punish accordingly.

 

guys, add me on steam, and i'll message you as soon as he comes on/becomes active. he was on a few days in a row just prop damaging people then reporting them once they killed him. did it to me a few times.

 

Pretty much what wolf said, I've seen him do it tons and push people off stuff with riot shields or trapping. Though with the prop part it's hard to tell as prop damage doesn't show in logs :L

 

just another mod stating that i as well, have had a problem with potato, is it a bad idea to take a players word for it when potato reports them and the player says ehe prop damaged them, and then take action by slaying potato?

 

You should never be taking action against a player without solid proof that they committed the act (ie. log support). Going off another player's word would be bias, something we need to be avoiding regardless of the history of the person. If you don't have support from the logs or did not see it happen yourself, you shouldn't be slaying off the word of another player. It's better we let a guilty person go unpunished rather than punish a person who did nothing.

 

If he's proving to become a problem in this respect, just do what I did with Dark Paradox: Spectate them as soon as you see them on. Yes, it requires you to sit out for a round or two, but if he's that problematic chances are within 2 rounds you'll have enough evidence for slays/bans.

 

in order for someone to be punished accordingly we need video proof, in the Case of Dark Paradox, i believe Tsu uploaded video proof of him Prop killing which was enough to get him banned.

 

never said i did do that was asking if it was a bad idea, just to clarify

 

how would i go about recording this? i know that steam doesnt have something built in to record....

 

you have two options:

a) get FRAPS, record, upload to youtube etc.

b) Use garry's mod's built in functionality to record a demo, upload demo to a download website, post link.

In the second section, Zikeji explains how to record using the built in demo function, which is definitely useful in gathering video evidence when reporting someone.
