We will have a dedicated chat server to go along with the minecraft server, so which program should we use? Oh and the server will officially be a modified survival server.
I have both but I've only used Teamspeak because the guys I've been playing with are anti-anything else. Count me as "doesn't matter which".

Ventrillo is very compact, uses less CPU/memory than any of the other ones and is probably the most simple.

Teamspeak is really easy to use in my opinion although it does take up a bit more resources that other games you can have different channels for the game incase someone wants to have private conversations if you know what I mean , haha just kidding but Teamspeak is deff the way to for a minecraft server
Although skype may be a good way to communitcate with others there are some bad things about it lets me list a few. 1. Not everyone has a perfect mic some may not even have a mic and use their webcam or something 2. only 8 people can be in the call at once 3. It highly increases the chances of being DDOSed,DOXed, or getting any private infomation 4. There is no Push-to-talk button for bad mics or someone trying to spam. So, I think those are some good reasons why skype isn't a good source of chatting and expecially for a server
