I've never had the best PC, but I could run gmod fairly well. I got 40+ fps even in the most performance-intensive maps if I turn my settings down, 120+ fps in 67thway and around the same in motel and parts of bowling. But after the christmas update my performance has taken an extreme hit. Even in maps like innocentmotel I can't get any more than 25 fps, and in harder maps its almost unplayable with around 10-15. My settings are already turned down to the bare minimum, and I've tried solutions like setting my directxlevel lower and trying a bunch of performance cfgs and fiddling with the console. Just days before the update my performance was fine, but right afterwards I've taken this extreme hit and I find STTT almost frustrating to play at this point. I can still run everything else in gmod well, including other TTT servers, so I know the problem is isolated to this one. Anyone else having the same problems? I assume its because of the update since that's the only changed factor.
Yea, it’s happened to me too. Idk why it started to happen but I used to have high frames before the update but now I have low to medium frames whenever I am in the servers.
I'm playing on 800x600 because of the performance issues so I can get at most 30fps and it's not even that stable. Hope that at least when the update is over the issue will be gone. Edit: Forgot to add that yes, I tried playing on places that aren't the STTT servers and they're fine. Even on singleplayer it's at 60+ and only ever drops if there's too many explosions. TF2 is completely fine and I even play it on a higher graphic setting.
Honestly I think the servers could do with a "content clearout". As much as we all love some items its very clear that not all of it used and often is pointless creating lag on the servers. The xmas content isn't helping much and is probably causing some of the issues. If @Opalium was to make a survey based around Playermodels in a similar vein to the Maps, or even another Map survey to remove some that might help with the issues. Also updating to a more modern Pointshop might also help?
I replaced every playermodel with the normal CSS variant and got a large FPS boost, might be because of the fancy shaders that playermodels have
