    PC Build

Hey, I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to PC Building, I'm currently playing of a £500 Zoostorm Desktop PC with Intel HD Integrated Graphics. Yeah.. It's my Birthday in August and I'll be saving up for something a bit more runnable. I've been looking around for a PC around £400 and would like some feedback on what I've created up-to-now! If anyone has any parts or an entirely new build altogether, be sure to post down below..

    PC Parts

    MSI RX 470 - £178

    Intel i3 6100 - £101

    MSI H110M Pro-VD - £55

    Ballistix Sport - £64

    EVGA 430W - £40

    Need Case / Fan Suggestions

    Overall Cost

    £438

I think I'm wrong on this but...
i3's are a bit obselete now, the newer pentiums are essentially the king of budget providing hyperthreading, the pentium may seem dual core, but hyperthreading emulates two more cores I think. Please emphasize on how I said newer pentiums, like skylake/kabylake.

You want a modular PSU, dear god cable management will be HELL with a non modular, a modular PSU will just grant you much more freedom in cable movement. My current rig has a non-modular, and there's just sphagetti wires all over the place.

I'm honestly not the best at saying what GPU is bad, but maybe the RX 570 is a better option.

I'm a bit behind when it comes to custom PC parts, so you may want advice from someone else.

This is the video I got the parts from, I have no idea what this means, the only judging I did was from the Benchmarks. All I want in a PC is to run Top Games like Battlefield 1 or Overwatch at close to Max Settings in 1080p.

don't use an i3, they are not good for gaming anymore tbh and struggle to catch up
go for a low i5, maybe 2-4th gen, can recommend i5 2400, using it atm and works well on all games

going for a low i5 will also save prices on mobo and ram bc most of the lower gens are 1155 slot and 1155 slot mobos are cheaper, and 1155 slot motherboards use ddr3 ram which is cheaper
only problem is with this ^^ you might have to upgrade sooner. this will last u like 5 years tho if you go for this option
nvm dont do that just get a pentium

about the gpu, just got nvidia xd
for that price, buy a 1060 or 1050ti or go for the 900's, even the 750ti is still good for its day and like £90 (you will bottleneck btw if you use i3 and a 470, not good idea)

for a fan go for the hyper 212 evo, i use it and its pretty damn good

js tho £400 is not enough for a pc nowadays, save it and get more money

I don't think you'll max out newer games with a 400$ PC, but I'm sure you can hit medium - high on 'em. Overwatch on the other hand, is not what I'd necessarily call a high-end game, as it can run on essentially any PC.
As Alex stated, he's a bit of a newbie when it comes to PC building, I highly doubt he's going to overclock, so the stock fan will do him good enough, seeing as he's on a budget.

If you find rx 470/480s for that price range, let me know, thanks.

I have an i3-6100 and it runs everything I throw at it perfectly. I am able to run everything I play at 1080 at at least high settings at 60+ fps.

My current setup is an i3-6100 and a 1050ti. Its very very very nice for a budget build, I only paid 576 USD for it. If you really want to go budget, heres a build i made for you. Its cheaper than mine since mine i bought a 16 gb kit for. The price 467.21 for eur. However, if you know how to make and boot off of a usb, then you dont have to buy the os for that much, which would drop the price down to 379.72 eur.

Ok, the i3 is good but now there's no reason to buy it with the newer pentiums being out.

Upgrading your CPU fan isn't just for the benefit of overclocking, it lengthens the life of your CPU too. If you run a CPU for 2 years at 70-80 degrees compared to 30-40, I can guarantee the higher temperature one will die first. That's not even considering dust and other problems.

I've had this myself. On my old PC I had very stock cooling which blatantly wasn't enough for the temperatures it was getting to and both my CPU and my GPU started to die way before they should have done due to the higher temperatures. No overclocking and I wasn't pushing it too hard, it was just the constant use at the higher temp that was doing it. I would recommend definitely upgrading the CPU fan just to extend life. Especially if you're on a budget build anyway, you probably can't be affording new replacements earlier than you have to.

I'm here running on an overclocked i3-6100 @ 4.167GHz and a GTX 970 that are able to run games like BF1 and R6S with a combo of Med+High settings at 1080p60. On other games, like Gmod, I can easily get in excess of 100-200+ FPS (source games). However, if you plan on doing some heavier multi-tasking and video editing/rendering, wait for Ryzen 3 or even 5 which will probably provide 4-6 cores at a cheaper price (but may be slightly slower in some games due to lower clocks).
