I believe that TTT should have CAC as it is the most effective anti-cheat out there. https://www.gmodstore.com/scripts/view/460/comments/42 Experienced coders should already know their way around CAC. HOWEVER, this does not prevent the script kiddies (majority of the 'hackers' that the staff members face here) from getting banned as they do not know how to bypass cac with the common free lua hacks. This lessens the burden on the staff members having to manually deal with every single cheater by themselves. Besides, spending a few minutes installing CAC and configuring it isn't a lot of time spent, it's also currently $15. It isn't expensive at all for the best anti cheat available to the public right now. Refer to the point above, it filters out the script kiddies which is most of the hackers anyway. This, as I have said, lessens the burden of the staff members who can mainly focus on the real cheaters or the cheaters with premium hacks. CAC has over 20 detection methods that is almost impossible to bypass unless you use one method which many people are not capable of doing as they probably have little to no experience in coding. Having an anti-cheat as a preventive measure is worse than having no anti cheat. Imagine the amount of hackers increasing because we implemented an anti cheat! Also, before someone talks about false positives. The chances of it is very low. tl;dr CAC filters out the script kiddies, staff only having to deal with people with private or premium hacks.
I wouldn't mind it honestly, I'd prefer it simply flag players for staff review, combine it with concommand table and screengrab and we'd be able to catch basically every hacker. @Opalium check it out maybe
We previously discussed this within the administration. We never had any problem with hackers, we don't see a lot of them on our servers and those who do come on are quickly dealt with. I don't see any reason to invest in this solution unless hackers will become a serious problem for us.
It's pretty bad on EUnilla sometimes. Not uncommon at all to play with 2-4 blatant cheaters at the same time
I agree with you except in the fact when the servers are staffless. It would be a nice bonus to have a way to be on when the server currently contains no staff. This would help out regulars who are getting their experienced ruined just because an hacker can hit headshots better than xpro.
Administration, Please at least give this a chance. Just test it out. It wouldn't hurt to put it on one server for a few days to see the effects. We have a ban appeal section, anyway. It brought a tear of happiness to my eye when testing out Aimware on other servers, and having the system ban me the moment the round started.
Not every hacker is caught the first time they are hacking. People can get away with hacking for many hours of playtime before anyone notices.
We already have 40 bloody mods for a reason, let them do their god damn job and not some AI and if they're too lazy then I'll fucking remind them what they signed up for
The only thing I agree with is to give the staff more tools for finding cheaters, I do not support any automated cheat system as it can't take SoL, ban evasion, etc into account.
If it doesn't slow down the servers or anything, I see no point why we couldn't use this. I also see hackers pretty often, more often than I used to in the past and that's just people using blatant aimhacks and no recoil hacks, not counting those who just use ESP only and don't get caught. Not sure if that's a hack for gmod but I don't see why it wouldn't be able to be made.
I've caught 7 hackers this month, there's no need for an anticheat. We have a report section and staff members for a reason.
I bet I could go on the servers with a different account and not get caught cheating But with an anticheat that tells the staff...
If this had minimal impact on the server and load times, and only flagged users and their logs, then definitely would like it. Its all pretty much been said, but adding to the chorus, there just isn't a good reason to not have it if it doesn't effect anyone but hackers. Even if it only catches three within the year that would have gotten away otherwise, if it's just sitting there without hurting anyone, why not? Why not!
