I like the idea of having a floating base over the void but I'm not going to bother going through with it if it can just be griefed easily. I think it'd be cool to allow players to claim land in the end anywhere but the main island (and maybe the immediate islands where the ender pearl portals take you.) Not something that's hard to implement and just gives players another way to play the game.
Can't you farm Endermen in The End? If so, no thanks Add that to the fact The End would begin being monetized because of how much less there is of it compared to the overworld
I understand this is a pretty old thread, but I believe it is still relevant today. to begin with, endermen can be farmed anywhere in the end, with or without a claim. I have personally built 2 endermen grinders, one of which I still use regularly. Secondly, until recently the end was "infinite", and even with the recent border the end is much larger than the overworld, basically just giving us another place to use our claim blocks.
If we were allowed to claim in the end, along with the new world border in the end, things will become even more limited than they already are resulting in the end resetting once in a while anyways if the staff/devs decide to. So it can always be "fresh" to new players or others instead of the end being filled with bridges players build to get from island to island and mined terrain. In my opinion it's just much easier to have your base in the overworld, to avoid certain things such as that. Also I believe that the market sells enderman spawners? I haven't checked in a while so I'm not 100% sure.
this has nothing to do with endermen. his mention of enderman was an argument against claiming, saying that it would be unfair for someone to farm them in a claim.
And I was just saying if your sole purpose to claim in the end is to farm endermen, you can always use a spawner instead. Getting rid of one of the main reasons to claim or make a base in the end. Which actually still has something to do with this post. People want to protect their bases, or grinders which is why they want claims in the end. But they still have to constantly go back and forth from the overworld to get supplies if they run out. If you just have a spawner then there's less work that they need to do. And less reason to claim land in the end.
The original post is about building a base, not enderman farming. This is about expanding player's options rather than taking them away.
Yes I know and I was clearly stating my opinion to the original post in my first reply. But you were focusing too much on the part where I mentioned farming endermen to realize it. Also not to mention how hard it would be to travel through the end, only to accidentally run into a claim that's bigger than the build (as an example). Thus having to find your way around it as claims restrict the use of enderpearls. Which is one of the more common ways to travel in the end if you don't have an elytra or an unlimited amount of blocks to build bridges to get to different places.
Seriously I don't understand the purpose. Personally I would never care for or want to build in the end. Can someone who is in favor elaborate on why?
Use it in the overworld and in the Nether. The End is much more limited than those 2 worlds. ^ As this guy have said, you build a base in the end= you can farm stuff. And by allowing claims inside the end, you get to claim end cities. It's a selfish move if you let them add claims inside the end along with the supposed "new world border" for the end, making the end useless as soon as players reach it and exhaust the resources inside it.
+1 to enable end claiming. If you claim an end-city, you could just as easily loot it. Its not like that loot respawns. Yes, we might run into people blocking off sections of the end, but that's the same argument people used with the Nether, and that still hasn't happened. Using a bunch of 'what-ifs' to argue something is silly, especially in a strictly moderated server like this one
cute...anyway, we are giving plenty of reasons and you aren't even attempting to refute them. 1: 2: 3:
Oh wow a floating base?! Big fucking deal. I'm sure all 3 of you would actually play again if you could build a floating base. Oh wait nvm We could get better suggestions from @Cirtex
Yes, because every decision MUST be determined by whether or not it will bring people back. It can't just be a "Why not, people want this, it doesn't hurt anything directly" @Deathbyrussian @Robokiller87 @irritatingness @Disruptionz Any thoughts from the devs? Keep in mind, this is almost identical in structure to the nethertop debate.
