Make it like 10 ap points for 1000 and make some repeatable achievements, that way us regulars can get some more points without afking.

 

+1 I think this is a very good idea since it adds an active way to earn points besides AFKing on the server

 

How about daily quests / objectives? By doing the daily objective you could earn a decent amount of points.
