There is a lot of waste in everyday life (in procedure as well as literal physical waste).

A lot of this waste is the reason that we exist. For example, oxygen was simply a waste byproduct of many microorganisms right up until the atmosphere became so oxygen-rich that many of them died out and paved the way for the life that evolved into humans and most of the other species on our planet.
