Reason for Report - Ghosting/Metagaming

Some background, I'm a new player to the server. So I guess I don't have the same weight to my words as those who are VIPs to the server and pay money. However, as a new player, I'd like to think of myself as an unbiased person, who has no prior prejudices against anyone in the server. That said, Ellie, along with her boyfriend (Sean)Alpha0Atom are both VIP players on the server and are ghosting with one another/metagaming with one another which is a clear violation of the rules.

Can't remember all the players who were there off the top of my head, but there were several players there who saw the event, and I'm sure you could see who was on at the time and ask any of them if it happened.

Evidence
Suspicions were first aroused when a player went up the airshaft on the dolls map. Upon reaching the top of the vent, Ellie opened fire on the player, prompting the player to return fire. However, Ellie was accompanied by (Sean)Alpha0Atom, who also shot at the player. The player was ultimately killed by (Sean)Alpha0Atom. Ellie turned out to be a traitor and (Sean)Alpha0Atom turned out to be innocent. Other players expressed confusion as to why (Sean)Alpha0Atom did not shoot Ellie. Ellie responded by saying "Oh he's my boyfriend!". She further said that it's acceptable for her boyfriend to assist her traitor rounds, even while her boyfriend was an innocent. This confers an unfair advantage to the traitor.

This statement, coupled with the actions taken by the two accused leads to some possible conclusions.

1.) Ellie told (Sean)Alpha0Atom that she was a traitor.

Under this assumption, we can assume that this knowledge lead to him opening fire on the same player that Ellie started the firefight with. Had he not known that she was a traitor, and had no connection with Ellie, it would be reasonably assumed that he would instead shoot at Ellie as she had instigated the fight. (Sean)Alpha0Atom knowing that Ellie was a traitor by being told is a clear violation of the rules. The only way he would have known she was a traitor is through a third party communication, such as steam or skype.

2.) (Sean)Alpha0Atom did not know that Ellie was a traitor.

Assuming Ellie never told (Sean)Alpha0Atom that she was a traitor, he still followed her around, and shot at whoever she shot at, even if she started the firefight. Following the kill, and seeing that the victim was innocent, he did not question why Ellie shot the victim in the first place. Further more, Ellie was a traitor that round, and had killed other innocents earlier in the round, which means that (Sean)Alpha0Atom must have deduced she was a traitor, yet did nothing about it. Furthermore, Ellie as a traitor, did not kill (Sean)Alpha0Atom. This implies that there is some sort of cooperation between the two, agreed to in a 3rd party communication (such as steam or skype) or through an unspoken agreement. This can be considered metagaming.

Now these are just some possible conclusions. In summary, there is strong evidence that the two players communicate with one another through a 3rd party system as to the roles that the two players receive while playing. This is against the rules. This is further strengthened by the fact that she was heard by multiple people claiming that (Sean)Alpha0Atom was her boyfriend, which would lend credence to the idea that the two would willingly cooperate with one another.

Even if the two did not communicate roles with one another, there is still strong evidence of a pact of cooperation between the two, which could be considered metagaming. Even without knowing what the other person's role is, following the notion that I should shoot whoever my girlfriend shoots at no questions asked (even if they turn out to be innocent) confers an unfair advantage to the two.

Keep in mind this is only one instance. Should such metagaming/ghosting between the two players be considered plausible, then it may not be too much of a stretch to conclude that such cooperation had not only occured in the past, but may also occur again in the future.​

 

Hello @Brokensky thank you for taking the time to file this report. I understand that you believe these two players were metagaming and they very well may have been though do you have any evidence of this incident such as chat screenshots showing them talking about roles or video? If you do then please present it so we could act further on this and investigate further.

Unfortunately I don't. However, you can ask any of the witnesses present, and I'm sure they'd be happy to confirm my story. Further, they communicate exclusively using voice chat, and I did not have the presence of mind to immediately start recording as I wasn't expecting them to admit to working together. Additionally, once Ella had realized what she'd said, she and Sean were pretty quick to clam up about them working together. Also, I would not have screenshots of them discussing roles as they wouldn't be so careless as to admit that through text, but probably communicated through a third party such as steam messaging. Additionally, if it's possible for you to access previous damage logs, you can see the damage logs would support my story. I provided a pretty close time to when the incident happened. I know the exact round it happened and the map, and the time I provided should give you the correct damage reports. If you can view chat logs, you should see some chat logs from players confirming my story as well.

 

Well unfortunately without evidence it would be word vs word so what I would personally recommend is when you suspect people of metagaming go ahead and type 'record recordingnamehere' this will start you up a demo and would allow us to view more that just damagelogs and other player(s) word on the situation and watch them. I will keep a eye out on them with this in mind however without evidence other than logs which would show combat between players not their knowledge of the other's roles and player statements, if one of them happen to be recording or capture chat regarding the event that would be great and can help in the investigation, I will leave this open for the opportunity for the witnesses to provide their evidence allowing a couple days for this to be done.

 

This was last night for me. I just came home from being away for 3 days and when i came on i played with ella is a grill(ellie) we were on east 2 and on dolls. take note i was home from playing the division awesome game btw and i wanted to watch the movie they made. So as rounds were going i had my headphones out and i wouldn't look at the screen and i would tab out to check the division merchandise which are so firkin awesome have you seen it? but anyways. she did tell me to stay still and she would protect me on voice chat so i hid in my usual spot expecting to die, then i tabbed out for a long time and came back not knowing everybody else was dead. so when someone had a opened fire on us i thought he was trying to rdm ella is a grill(ellie). so i gunned him down then ella is a grill killed me. so i was completely lost.

Brokensky its funny how you accuse us of this. you were the rdmer of this map. you kept killing some "squeaker" thats what you called him. also you kept hitting on ella is a grill(ellie). were you jealous of her talking to me or something?

i didn't report brokensky because it wasn't my report to submit, i felt bad for the kid to be honest. I didn't want to rdm brokensky because its not the right thing to do

 

What Alpha said is completly true, I was traitor and he privated messaged me and said protect me, I need to look up some stuff, and I said of course. I killed a few people and he came back as I was killing someone and he helped me kill him, as he went to go ID the body I killed him. In all honesty I wouldn't even know how to ghost. I realize it's not that hard but, I just don't know if I could do that. As for metagaming I don't even know what that is. I am truly sorry for everything that happened, Brokensky. I did not mean to upset you or cause you trouble, it was a true misunderstanding.

 

I think it's funny that sean is coming up with false accusations. I do not communicate in anyway outside of text. You can check the chat logs and you can see that I never said any of the things that Sean said I did. I never called anyone a "squeaker", I never "hit on" ella. The other funny thing is that ella openly admits in the above post that the two do message each other through steam. Ironically, assuming what sean says in his post is true that he simply was alt tabbed out, (which is not true as he was actively participating in the game) he still asked ella to "protect" him. As a traitor, why would ella protect him as an innocent? That makes no sense. Shouldn't she as a traitor be killing all innocents? Especially if sean was alone? This seems to further support my claims that there is some sort of agreed cooperation between the two and evidence of metagaming.

 

I will be getting the damage logs for this report once I get on GMOD later after my headache dulls.

 

Also, here's a more complete list of people who I remember being on the server at the time. Is eyewitness testimony enough evidence? I have no connections to any of these people, and am only adding them/attempting to add them on my friend's list to request that they provide testimonial to this report.

I never said anything about steam chat. You can private message people on the server, that is what I was talking about. I don't talk to Sean any other way than in-game chat if we are playing together. And I protected him because he gave me an alibi. If someone called me out I could quickly say I was with Sean the whole time and he would still be alive. And no offense to Sean, I am a better shot than him and he would have/was an easy kill.

 

http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/7656119804554 brokensky gladly posted a link to his profile. he has told me that someone (not me or ella) has told trevan to lie. to get us banned who could that perosn be? if trevan could go in and support this. because clearly someone just wants to get us banned. someoen would actually add someone else so they could tell him to lie? to get two people banned?

 

By the way Falcor Richard Dawkins who was playing last night just told me that someone private messaged him and told him to lie. I have screen shots of this to prove it too. I just don't know how to upload it. Also Richard D. is now Trayvon

 

That is all hearsay and no one has posted. This report does not need any more accusations. Nothing proves Broken is going around asking people to lie. If you have screenshots of broken asking people this, that is fine to add.

I did not ask that person to lie. I merely asked if he could confirm that he saw what had happened. I did not ask him to lie at all. In no way did I ask him to falsify any accusations against you two. All I'm doing is going around asking people if they can back up my story of what happened. You two seem awfully defensive and desperate to discredit me.

It does not suggest at all ,there was any MetaGaming going on during your gameplay. Alpha Didn't even fire until shooting you. Alpha and Ellie's story of being alt tabbed then tabbing back in to see you shooting though does correlate.


This thread gives a great guide on how to properly obtain proof of rule breakers.
Thank you for taking the time to make a report as sometimes there is a bit of confusion on the servers and things may seem worst then they are, like metagaming and ghosting.
