Hearthstone Tournament

So after seeing all of these league and rocket league tournaments going on I realised we have a few people here who both enjoy and dabble in the game that is known as Hearthstone and I thought "hey, why not doing a tournament for that too" so here we are.

Tournament Information-:​

• Each pair match up will be a best of 3 format.
• Each winner will advance to the next stage until we have a grand final which will be between two people.
• Depending on how many people enter we will have either just one or two different matches doing on at a time.
• A match draw will be randomly drawn by myself 2 days before the tournament so that you have an idea of who you may be up against.
• Spectating people will be allowed and players will be required to use TeamSpeak.
• A grand prize of $40 USD is up for grabs. A $15 USD prize will be awarded to the runner up.
• Tournament will begin around 8pm EST.
• The tournament will be held on the 19th of March.

Tournament Rules-:​

• Friendly trash talk is allowed. It is all in good fun
• Customs decks will be regulated as per the rules to follow
• Failure to turn up in time for your starting match will result in a forfeit after a set time limit that is yet to be determined.
• Spectating via the spectate option available in Heartstone and talking during the competition on TS will be allowed as stated, however ghosting is NOT allowed. Letting the other competing player know about cards their opponent has will result in not only a disqualification from the tournament but you will not be allowed to continue to spectate the competition.

Deck Rules-:​

To ensure there is some kind of consistency across the board and to ensure that people newer to the game will actually stand a chance against the veterans I have decided that if a person is to use any custom decks that they have built themselves, they must only contain BASIC cards. That is, cards that are unlocked to all new players. I will provide a list for you of cards you may use.

To ensure that this is all fair I request that all players to submit a run down of their deck to me at least 2 days prior to the tournament so that I may check them to ensure that all of this is followed.

Be prepared before the day by adding people along the way so that on the day we may start the tournament in a timely manor on the day without too many troubles.

Also in a lot of tournaments in best of 3 they sometimes do where if you lose with a deck you have to switch decks, are we doing something like that?

 

That is something I have yet to decide, however when I come to a decision I shall let you all know.

Edit: I have decided that we will not force players to switch decks if they lose using it at least for this tournament.

I stopped caring after I read "basic only"

Who the fuck plays basic only?
You know what would have been an actually interesting limiter?

Dust cost.

Limit the decks to, say, 2200 Dust cost. 1500 Dust cost.
There's plenty of deck building programs that could easily calculate the cost of a deck for you so you wouldn't have to crunch the numbers yourself.
AND it would open up at least SOME variation and play styles, instead of the one or two play styles that basic is limited to.

Anything but JUST basic.

 

I like the idea but for the first tournament I decided it would be basic cards only and that is the way it will be staying.

 

Tbh I feel like saying only basic cards would be the same as saying no runes/masteries and only free champs in League. Sitting this one out.

 

Thats exactly what I thought too.

Like, if we had a League Tourney and only level 1 accounts with no runes or masteries could join, and also only using the free rotation champions because #pay2win
Its a direct correlation and tbh its pretty silly, but whatever.

Maybe next time we can have a tourney that promotes different builds that have synergy, instead of the mess that Basic Only can build.

 

I am merely running this tournament for fun, to get more of the community together who are interested in the game. If you like your idea and would like to run with it then you are more than welcome to start up your own tournament and play it your way! There is no one stopping you
