So as some of you know the FBI has asked apple to create a back door into IOS which would give them access to the terrorist Syed Rizwan Farook who attacked San Bernardino and killed/injured alot of people. This backdoor that they requested will not only give them access to Farooks iphone but every Iphone in existence. I want to know do you think apple should fight this which could take it all the way up to the supreme court of the united states. (SCOTUS) If they decide in favor of the FBI it would set a precedent than nobody's Smart phone is secure and the Police/Government can access you phones data or do you think that apple should create a back door in the name of national security. Which would most likely make other governments around the world be like we want this to or you wont be able to sell your phones here. The FBI made 3 demands of apple: 1. Disable the 10 invalid pass code reset function. 2. Disable the 6 invalid password time limit function (Basically 6 wrong passwords than it wont let you access for one minute than 5 minutes ETC.) 3. allow them to plug it into the computer to brute force the password (even though a FBI agent could try all ten thousand 4 digit combination in about 11 hours if Apple disables the 2 others) on the computer In my opinion apple should fight this because the FBI has no right to look at my data and if apple creates this back door it would create a precedent that no ones data is secure and the fbi/police can access my phones data if they have my phone
Sorry but I don't feel like letting all those Russian and Chinese hackers into my iPhone to hold my credit cards and bank information for ransom. I think that the federal government demanding something that doesn't even exist yet is an unfathomably stupid. "I DEMAND YOU TO INVENT THIS"
I absolutely love Apple's iPhone encryption. The fact that the FBI can't get into it is fucking amazing, in my opinion. Now, what I think Apple should be able to get for the FBI is a list of people the terrorist had been communicating with. This being sent/received calls, sent/received texts(iMessages included) and sent/received emails. The service provider should also send this information to the FBI. As for content? I'm not willing to give up my right to privacy. It's not that I have illegal things on my phone, but more that I have private conversations on there with friends and family. We should be able to be 100% confident that nobody is reading our personal info.
Why not destroy the "master key" after it is used on the phone? (Unless it's gonna be completely under the government's control for their "Survaliance.")
They could've but the FBI told the people who gave him the phone (Its a work Phone) to change the icloud password so they cant force a auto backup to the cloud because the phone and the cloud dont recognize each other. the cell calls is with the phone company and i think the iMessage could've been backed up if the FBI didn't change the icloud password or that data is stored on the phon which they cant access without a backdoor.
Its the moral of making the backdoor is that it shows hackers/Goverment its possible and do people really think if apple cant stop leaks of the Iphone (Insert number here) They could stop something that could be sold for thousands of dollars And this most likely wont be the only time the FBI asks for this key.
