Lets discuss movies we watched or want to watch here.

I watched fight club and I am so confused right now, might have to re watch a couple times. Are there any other good movies that are comparable. I also might watch Schindler's list since it looks fun.

 

Memento, Se7en, I'll edit them in as I think of them. Maybe Pulp Fiction?

 

As hated as it was, the Super MArio Bros. movie i adored just for how bad it was. none of it made sense but i still love it. It would have been a good movie if they didnt try to make it a Mario movie.

 

I watch that and reply back. I've always been interested in those movies where you feel like you are in the mind of the characters, going insane along with them. Any other movies like that?

Not a movie but Spec Ops: The Line while lacking gameplay most of the time, had an excellent story that was worth playing through. Although I played on easy mode just to get the story as the gameplay was very generic shooter-esque.

 

For me the reason I disliked it because I was a little kid who liked mario and expected a cool mario movie, what I got certainly had more... adult themes...

 

Does the movie have to be relevant or can we just talk/rant about any movie here?

Anyways I just watched The Room and it's honest to God the best good-bad movie. Not only because Tommy Wiseau's amazing script and directing but because you can tell he put his heart and soul into it. Making for a sad but fucking hilarious watch.

I kinda hate self-aware movies like Birdemic 2 and Sharkando because it usually feels really soulless imo

 

What movies what movies...

A good majority of Monty Python, Spaceballs, Green Mile, plethora of others i may mention later, gonna mention some I've recently watched in Japanese Film class that are actually some of my favorite movies ever: Seven Samurai, and Tokyo Story. Very excellent films. All y'all need to see these for any comedic or story related reason.

As for birdemic 2: That can burn with Airplane and Sharkando. But mostly destroy all of Birdemic 2 first.

Airplane?!

Real question: Has anyone here seen the Star Wars holiday special? It's the best movie ever.

 

I liked Airplane, however Airplane 2 was trash in cash-in sequel form.

Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings, Whiplash, Inglorious Bastards, Inception, and Fury. Movies I've seen all within a year from now (of course I've watched them even before that) but they're all still good after the 2nd+ time watching them over again.

 

I've mostly been watching a lot of drama films lately. I love the stellar acting, storytelling, and other elements that fall into films of this category.

Whiplash, 12 years a slave, Foxcatcher, Gone Girl, August Osage County, The Help, Birdman, Blue Jasmine

I definitely recommend these if you are into that kinda stuff.

 

Ex Machina - Just watched this movie on Netflix and holy fuck was I ever surprised. I thought I was gonna be bored halfway through when I first started watching it but I actually got really interested.
Then this movie fucked me so badly.
Watch it. It's so good.

 

I've honestly only been re-watching the Harry Potter films lately :B Even though i've seen them all about 1million times already.

 

(NSFW warning, a lot of these movies contain violence and nudity. One even contains a guy jacking off onto the ground, and his ejaculate then spelling the title of the movie. Watch at your own risk, or don't if you're not comfortable with those things).

Blue Velvet

Another David Lynch film. This one has Kyle Maclachlan, though (Twin Peaks, Dune, etc). Basically guy starts to fall for this singer who is mixed in with this other guy who is absolutely frightening.

A THIRD David Lynch film, and possibly my favorite movie of all time. A really cute love movie starring Nicholas Cage who actually does amazingly in this movie. I absolutely love this movie, it gives me real feelings which is rare.

Ichi the Killer

A completely insane, sexually conflicted man is chosen to be a hit man/superhero by a group trying to take down a Yakuza organization lead by an equally insane masochist. Also, it's by Takashi Miike, so it's violent as shit, and the soundtrack is by Boredoms (which is really cool).

The Happiness of the Katakuris

A family opens a bed and breakfast in the middle of nowhere. They rarely get customers, but when they do, their customers end up dying somehow, and they have to hide the bodies in order to not get shut down. It's also a MUSICAL, and it's directed by Takashi Miike (again).

A bunch of Yakuza pretty much just hangout on a beach and have fun together for most of the movie. Really cute, really also not cute.
